Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Student/Teacher Ratio has deteriorated over the past decade. Unlikely the trend reverses given all the $ being funneled to random facility projects like back up boilers, HVAC and performing arts center (which in the latest iteration is much bigger and costlier). The admins are not focusing on the right things… like education, teachers and teaching quality. (hello?)

Schizophrenic Man Lunges at Oradell Officer

Oradell NJ, according to Oradell Police, Ordell Police Officer Maddolin was dispatched to the intersection of Kinderkamack Rd and Ridgewood Ave to perform a welfare check on an individual that was yelling at passing vehicles. The subject, who is schizophrenic, lunged at Officer Maddolin grabbing his radio wire and dragging him into the roadway. Officer Maddolin was able to break free and was again attacked by the subject who began grabbing for his duty weapon. Officer Maddolin brought the subject to the ground as Officer Lardinelli, and an off duty Passaic County Sheriff’s Officer arrived on the scene. The officers were able to subdue the subject and place him in restraints.

Twp. of Washington Gets New Police Chief

Twp of Washington  NJ, after extensive interviews with ranking officers the search committee has recommended Captain Skinner be appointed the next Chief of Police for the Twp of Washington .. Rich Skinner is a 26 year veteran of the department and a Captain since 2018. He holds an undergraduate degree in Public Administration and masters of Administrative Science both from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Captain Skinner served in the US Marines Corps and holds manny police training certifications. Rich is a Former DARE officer and volunteered as a youth baseball and football coach in the township.

At the same time, Lt John Calamari was promoted to the rank of Captain. Calamari is also a 26 year veteran of the department.

Waldwick House Fire Quickly Extinguished

Waldwick NJ, all Waldwick, NJ Volunteer Fire Department units responded to a residential structure fire in a home on Lincoln Place. Chief Mike Ferrara arrived and found an active fire on the second floor. Chief Ferrara called for a 2nd alarm bringing Midland Park, HoHoKus, Saddle River, Wyckoff, Ramsey and Mahwah Fire Departments to the scene with Upper Saddle River Fire Department on standby. Waldwick, NJ Volunteer Fire Department units made an interior attack extinguishing the Fire very quickly. We would like to thank our mutual aid companies for their assistance.

Good Samaritans aid Pedestrian Struck by Car in Oradell

Oradell NJ, the Oradell Police report that on 11/30/19 at 6:11pm a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Ridgewood Ave and Kinderkamack Rd. The injured party suffered lacerations to his head as well as other impact injuries. We would like to thank Oradell resident Pete Yotka and New York resident Daniel Ruggini who stopped to render aid prior to Police arrival. The injured party was transported to Hackensack University Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.

We would also like to remind pedestrians to do their best to increase visibility. We suggest wearing reflective materials, bright-colored clothes and to utilize the pedestrian flags and lights.

Unlocked Jeep Stolen in Oradell

Oradell NJ, the Oradell Police report that on 11/24/19 at 3:57AM, a 2018 White Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from the vicinity of Schaefer Ave and John St. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key fob inside. This a reminder to secure your vehicles and to remove all items of value. Anyone with information in regards to the stolen motor vehicle, please contact the Oradell Police Department at 201-261-0200.

Oradell Police Arrest Fleeing Suspect in Bank Fraud Transaction

Oradell NJ, according to the Oradell Police on 11/21/19 the Oradell Police Department was notified of a fraudulent transaction at the Chase Bank on Kinderkamack Road. Responding officers made contact with a suspect who was attempting to transfer $14,000 from a customer’s account to another account. After officers were provided fraudulent documentation the suspect was placed under arrest.

Bergen father and Son Team Sentenced In Fraudulent Short Sale Scheme

Park Ridge NJ, A father and son from Bergen County, New Jersey, were sentenced today to 27 months in prison and eight months of home detention, respectively, for their roles in a scheme to use straw buyers and short sales on properties to defraud mortgage lenders out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and to avoid paying taxes on the proceeds of the scheme, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

(DOB: 6/13/1996; single; electrician) of 175 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ on charges of Possession And Distribution Of Child Pornography and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Alpine NJ, an Alpine woman is suing a country club for $30,000 after she said a club waiter spilled wine on her Hermès handbag last year. The suit alleges that on Sept. 7, 2018, Maryana Beyder was enjoying a meal at the Alpine Country Club in Demarest when a waiter spilled red wine on the pink luxury handbag, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

Park Ridge NJ, “Walk in US, Talk in Japan” met with representatives from Fujitsu, NSGC, Ltd., and the New York Japanese Consul General’s office to discuss business opportunities in our area and Japanese-American relations. Thank you to Ambassador Yamanouchi and his staff for facilitating the meeting. Also at the meeting was Assemblymen Bob Auth, Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi, and Mayor of Montvale Mike Ghassali and I am sure we missed a few all working to bring jobs to Bergen County.

The Preserve Park Ridge Team, Will Fenwick, Josh Nathanson, and John Cozzi, promise to continue our efforts to promote Park Ridge as a great place to do business and work to restore commercial enterprises to our Corporate Park.
