ABC Revives Soros-Funded Attacks on Johns Hopkins and Coal Companies
By Sean Long | June 6, 2014 | 13:37
Building on a long week of anti-coal attacks by the media and the Environmental Protection Agency, ABC’s June 5 “World News” revived another attack on the coal industry. ABC hyped a 2013 investigation that it conducted in partnership with the Soros-funded Center for Public Integrity (CPI). It alleged that the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions had essentially been bought off by coal companies to ignore cases of black lung disease in miners.
ABC’s David Muir declared a “victory a long time in the making,” Johns Hopkins’ Dr. Paul Wheeler for allegedly “working for the coal company.”
On October 30, 2013, ABCNews.com posted an extensive investigation by ABC’s Chief Investigative Correspondent, Brian Ross, ABC’s Investigative Producer Matthew Mosk and CPI’s Investigative Report Chris Hamby. This report alleged that Wheeler, the leader of a unit that analyzes potential black lung cases, was either incompetent or had ignored cases of black lung in coal miners.

Miss USA Winner Sparks Feminist Fury: Encourages Women to Avoid Being Victims Through Self-Defense
Feminists were in an uproar over a very controversial and insensitive statement that is sure to haunt Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez for the rest of her life.
The question came from Rumer Willis, who’s known for nothing other than being the daughter of Bruce Willis:
“Recently “Time Magazine” said 19% of U.S. undergraduate women are victims of sexual assault in college. Why has such a horrific epidemic been swept under the rug for so long and what can colleges do to combat this?”
Miss Nevada answered:
“I believe some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation, and that would be a reason that it could be swept under the rug because they don’t want it to come out into the public but I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves. Myself as a fourth degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and being able to defend yourself and I think that’s something we should start to implement for a lot of women.”
For the evil sin of publicly advocating for women to take some steps to defend themselves, she was immediately vilified, because as we all know, you just can’t say such things in today’s PC-driven world. Get ready:
Ms. Nevada just said the best way to prevent college rape is to teach women self defense…and not men self-control..?

Readers set up Betting Pool as to how and who will cave to over development in the Village
DO NOT bet the ranch on either Ms. Hauck or Mr. Pucciarelli abstaining.
Ms. Hauck has already strongly hinted that she will not be abstaining (her thought being that voters knew her position when they pulled the lever and she has no skin in the game from a financial standpoint, thus no conflict).
And it is rumored that Mr. Pucciarelli may offer a legal opinion that holding an elected office differs from being appointed to a position. Therefore, although he recused himself from Planning Board matters about Valley, he will not do so in connection with Village Council business about Valley.
Case in point, he did not recuse himself from the discussion about whether Council members should accept a donation from Valley to cover printing costs for the OEM manual.

![]()
My $20 parlay bet is on a yes from the PB and a no from the Council 3-0 because of abstentions.
My $20 says the plan will be approved by the Planning Board and the Village Council (in a 3-2 vote, of course).

US struggles with surge in illegal immigrant children
By Geoff Dyer in Washington
Federal officials were scrambling at the weekend to provide medical and other supplies to an emergency shelter in Arizona to help house a surge of illegal child immigrants into the country that President Barack Obama has called “an urgent humanitarian situation”.
More than 750 children from Central America spent the weekend in an unused warehouse in Nogales, Arizona, which the border patrol agency has turned into a temporary “way-station” for the children, a state official said.
The improvised shelter is one of the by-products of a jump in illegal immigration from Central America this year, including 47,000 children who entered the country on their own – almost double the number from the year before.
The difficulties in coping with such large numbers of unaccompanied children are stoking the already tortuous debates about reforming the country’s immigration system..
Jan Brewer, the conservative Republican governor of Arizona, described the conditions at the shelter in Nogales as “dire”. She urged people to ask the Obama administration “the reason for this massive influx of illegal crossings and the cost to taxpayers for having to deal with the crisis created by the President”.
Although the overall trend of illegal immigration has dropped in recent years, the authorities have been overwhelmed in recent months by the surge in children trying to cross the border. The federal government is establishing facilities at military bases in Texas and California to help house the children while their cases are being examined. The administration estimates that the influx of immigrant children could cost the federal government $2.28bn this year.

Reader thinks Bowe Bergdha is a US spy
Reader says time to face facts perhaps Bowe Bergdha was a plant allowing the US to infiltrate the Talaban . A double agent in spy talk . I mean he was just to good of a prize for the Talaban to pass up .
He fits the profile for a good counter spy , with “hippie” left leaning anti establishment parents . His career in the military featured several instances of “wandering off ” , and I did find it strange all the sources reporting he was under observation , yet it was felt too dangerous to try to recover him.
I concede that the President is probably looking for any excuse to rid himself of “Club Gitmo” and he knows most of the media will parrot anything including sending compulsive lair Susan Rice to do the rounds .
So maybe like so much these days it more than just a captive/traitor . Obama vs America , Islam is the Religion of peace wink wink , maybe he was an embedded spy its just about as much sense as anything else .

57K vets wait for appointments
57K vets wait for appointments
By Kristina Wong – 06/09/14 12:24 PM EDT
More than 57,000 veterans are awaiting initial appointments at Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics around the country 90 days after requesting them, according to the Associated Press.
The AP’s story was based on an audit of facilities ordered by the White House that is expected to be released on Monday.
The results show patients are waiting much longer than the 14 days that the agency has said was its target for scheduling an appointment.
An additional 64,000 who enrolled in the VA health care system over the past 10 years have never had appointments, the AP reported.
The audit covered 731 VA hospitals and large outpatient clinics, and found that the agency’s scheduling practices concealed long wait times and created “confusion among scheduling clerks and supervisors.”
The audit also says a 14-day goal for seeing first-time patients was unattainable given the growing demand among veterans for health care and poor planning, and that 13 percent of VA schedulers reported supervisors telling them to falsify appointment dates to make waiting times appear shorter.
A partial audit, released May 30, had found widespread tampering with appointments at 64 percent of VA facilities, and prompted the resignation of former Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.
The initial audit found evidence that Veterans Affairs employees hid evidence of longer waits by veterans for healthcare.

Obama is driving the country to ruin
Obama is driving the country to ruin
By Michael Goodwin
June 7, 2014 | 10:22pm
If you think of the United States of America as a store, its recent decisions and scandals resemble a sale, perhaps a fire sale. Or maybe even a “Going Out of Business” sale.
The list of dramatic markdowns is breathtaking. They include trading away five murderous terrorists for a likely Army deserter, an open invitation to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to cross the Mexican border, and a decision to recognize the terrorist group Hamas as part of the Palestinian government.
On the home front, environmental regulations will cost thousands of coal miners their jobs and drive up the cost of electricity for millions. The ObamaCare mess is hardly resolved, and the Veterans Affairs scandal keeps getting worse. The acting agency head reported the deaths of 18 more vets who were kept off the official waiting list in Phoenix.
Ticking quietly in the background is the mother of all threats — an Iranian nuclear bomb. That ticking grew louder last week as the ayatollah mocked our nation by standing in front of a banner that proclaimed, “America cannot do a damn thing.”

North Jersey police retirees cash in while lawmakers stall

THE RECORD
PAGES: 1 2 > DISPLAY ON ONE PAGE
In the last three months alone, North Jersey taxpayers have been put on the hook for $1.5 million in payouts to eight police officers — including five chiefs — to cover thousands of hours in unused sick, vacation and compensatory time.
Some of the payouts include:
Vincent Caruso, Lodi: $342,381
Thomas Johnson, Elmwood Park: $228,141
Arthur O’Keefe, Englewood: $182,542
Gary Giardina, Clifton: $134,000
Frank Papapietro, New Milford: $158,000
Matthew Paz, Passaic: $100,000*
*Acting chief, city figures are estimated
The recent payouts approved in Bergen and Passaic counties are just the latest examples of a system that critics say is out of control, and a burden on taxpayers. In fact, some municipalities have been forced to borrow millions to make the payments. The Record has reported on six-figure payouts from at least a half-dozen other North Jersey public employees, including school administrators, in recent years. And there are more to come.
Indeed, these perks have become a rite of passage for some retiring public employees — Lodi Police Chief Vincent Caruso is getting $342,381, for instance — and other longtime workers still on the job, despite repeated criticism from Governor Christie and fiscal watchdogs who have called for the benefit to be repealed entirely.
“These six-figure payouts are forcing other people to go without,” said Jerry Cantrell, president of Common Sense Institute of New Jersey, a non-partisan research-and-education non-profit that receives support from individuals, private foundations and businesses. “If those dollars weren’t being expended on these things, they could be going toward legitimate purposes, like fixing potholes.”
State lawmakers have been unable — or unwilling — to strike a deal and get a handle on the substantial payouts. And without comprehensive, statewide reform, local officials have been left to negotiate a solution with employees on their own. So far, those efforts have come piecemeal and vary from town to town. In the end, it means the payouts keep coming.

Follow the rules that are in place to protect all of us. Valley Hospital, developers, and tax paying residents!
It’s not East vs. West. When you change H-Zones, Master plans, and variances…you are asking for future problems. Double Valley’s size, allow heights too high for the CDB, etc. You will get higher taxes, due to the need for more services. Traffic is bound to increase and cause problems getting to any side of town.
The answer has always been no to these requests. Why would the current board or council even entertain any of these requests? Your job and elected jobs are to follow the rules and in force them. Stop the nonsense. Logic and reasoning will prevail?
The master plan needs to be changed so that developers cannot ask for ‘spot zoning’ to suit them.
Leave the zoning as is, and make everyone, whether Valley, or an apartment developer have to operate within the current zoning, and get variances approved.
It keeps everything more within reasonable sizes, footprints, etc.
As it currently is, allowing someone to change zoning is a lottery ticket for the speculator who bought the land.
Reader asks Will the Planning Board flip a collective bird to residents again?
Reader asks Will the Planning Board flip a collective bird to residents again?
Is the Valley Expansion Bought and Paid For a long time ago ?
Was “treating residents with contempt” the best strategy
I don’t think that residents had the opportunity to provide any input on the revised plan. Will the PB flip a collective bird to residents again?
Valley has “Treated with contempt” the whole Village . If this was a group that was truly interested in being a trusted part of a community they sure as hell would have approached this whole thing differently. They don’t come across as dumb, just arrogant. Would it not be better to accomplish their goals working WITH the community they do business in ?
I notice that what was once a fierce group of Valley supporters has gone noticeably silent. To watch Valley’s attorney shout down everyone from the little old ladies to Planning Board members themselves must have made them cringe. To say that Valley has contempt for Ridgewood and its residents is a massive understatement. If it were such a great plan why are they so afraid of letting those opposed to their plan speak? Why did they feel the need to lock their opposition out of the last Planning Board vote?
Sad thing is, they are going to get most of what they want. This deal was bought and paid for years ago.
