Ridgewood NJ, NJDOL’s Division of Wage and Hour and Contract Compliance has the authority to immediately halt work at any public or private worksite – both construction and non-construction – when an investigation finds evidence an employer has violated state wage, benefit or tax laws. Examples include: misclassifying employees as independent contractors; not having appropriate workers’ compensation insurance; failing to pay prevailing wage or overtime; or paying workers partially, late, or off the books.

Amongst many examples of water wastage, one is directly associated with sprinklers — people turn on sprinklers but forget to turn them off! Therefore, the concept of smart irrigation was founded to ensure the right technology is being used at the right time.

Mayor Paul Vagianos offered a big  shout out to Nancy Bigos, Director of Parks and Recreation and her staff, who have worked hard to ensure that Graydon Pool, one of Ridgewood’s best amenities, is fully staffed with lifeguards for the first time since the pandemic.   We’re one of the only communities that still has a natural-fed pool, one that helps create fond summer memories for so many families.

Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded a Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded $263,725 in federal funding from the Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) after an arduous application process. These funds were specifically awarded to replace Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units that have reached their end of life.

Ridgewood NJ, at the end of June, Chief Jacqueline Luthcke retired from our force after more than 25 years of service to Ridgewood.  Police Captain Forest “Cenzo” Lyons was sworn in as Chief and took over on July 1.  A member of our department for 21 years, with deep roots in Ridgewood .

Vehicle Mishap Puts SUV on Front Lawn of Village of Ridgewood Home

Ridgewood NJ, no injuries were reported following a late Tuesday afternoon, 07/18, single vehicle crash at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Pershing Avenue, Ridgewood. The driver of a Mazda SUV veered off of the roadway, mounted a curb, rolled over a pedestrian crossing sign, and drove over a sidewalk before the vehicle came to rest on the front lawn of a nearby single family home. Despite evidence that the vehicle sustained significant crash related damage to its undercarriage, it was driven away on its own power. Ridgewood Police investigated the mishap.

Falling Tree Branch Crushes Car in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult couple from Rockland County, NY escaped injury when a large tree branch fell onto their Honda SUV late Tuesday afternoon, 07/18. The accident occurred in the 300 block of South Irving Street, Ridgewood. A tow truck removed the totaled SUV from the scene. Ridgewood Police responded to the incident.  No Injuries reported.
