Ridgewood Fire Department Member Receives Distinguished Service Award and B Shift Receives Unit Citation

Ridgewood NJ, the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association presented the members of B Shift of the Ridgewood Fire Department with a Unit Citation for their actions at a fire in a mixed occupancy in the Ridgewood business district. An occupant of a third floor apartment was trapped by fire. FF Mike McLaughlin was additionally present with a Distinguished Service Award for entering the apartment from the bucket of the RFD tower ladder and rescuing the trapped individual.

Teenage Riders Terrorize Saddle River County Park Bike Path Users in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, word is that a group of 10-15 young teenage boys on bikes were riding on the Saddle River County Park bike path near Ridgewood around 4:20 pm Friday weaving around and shouting at other people on the path. One boy in the group grabbed and almost knocked over a woman jogger and called her the b word as they rode by. The county police came and took a report.

Most Voters See Crime Is Getting Worse

Ridgewood NJ, Nearly two-thirds of voters say violent crime is getting worse, and half are not confident in President Joe Biden’s ability to deal with the problem.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 65% of Likely U.S. Voters say the problem of violent crime in America is getting worse. Only 10% say the violent crime problem is getting better, while 22% think it is staying about the same.

Restaurateur Bets Big on Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Sonny Singh a  62  who lives in Demarest, has been buying up Ridgewood restaurants after losing his party and bridal dress shops to the pandemic.

In the past month or so, Singh has bought Stella Artisan Italian and sister restaurant No. 12, the   nearly three-decade-old Country Pancake House on Ridgewood Avenue, which he is changing the name to  Ridgewood Diner.

Singh also has purchased  In Shape, a gym on Chestnut Street, which he is turning into Sugar & Spice Cafe and six months ago, he opened Turmeric Indian Bistro, a restaurant that specializes in North Indian cuisine, on Franklin Avenue.
