FRANK GERAGHTY

Paramus NJ, impatient drivers coming out of Stevens Court, Paramus every day who want to go east bound on Ridgewood Avenue take a chance & dash across in front of west bound traffic on Ridgewood Avenue and then slot into east bound traffic (see photo). This works most of the time but not always. I saw a car quickly cross & enter east bound traffic during rush hours from Stevens Court get hit on right side by van changing lanes to let a car out on his right ahead of him coming from Paramus Firehouse Lane, he must have thought the car from Stevens Court dropped from the sky.

“Return to Shandalee: 1969 and The Summer of Love” a book by Jeff Krizan, RHS ’69

Ridgewood NJ, With all the discontent surrounding the pandemic and national politics I thought it would be a good idea to divert our attention to an earlier time for a fictional “coming of age” story that I wrote about Chris Bronson, a 1969 graduate of Ridgewood High School. “Return to Shandalee: 1969 and The Summer of Love” is partly set in Ridgewood, NJ with references to Valley Hospital, Woolworth’s, Ridgewood Avenue, Van Neste Park, and many other places and people whose names I changed. Anybody from New Jersey over sixty reading my book can understand the references to “the Jersey shore,” foregone Catskill resorts, antiquated summer camps, and the current events of the time. All others who first fell in love when they were teenagers will understand the angst of it all but should be comforted by the tale of the central characters and how it shaped their future. “Shandalee” is a 5-Star novel available through Amazon in Kindle or paperback. It should take your mind off 2020!

Ridgewood NJ, “County parks budget being used for something else? This is the first thing many people see when driving westbound into Ridgewood. Council, can you complain? ” , readers continue to express their dissatisfaction  with the condition of the Bergen County Wild Duck Pond.

The dog run formerly referred to as ‘bark park”  seems to be popular despite claims of nasty aggressive dogs , but the over all condition of the pond has many residents very concerned . Crossing from Paramus heading up Ridgewood Avenue , the Bergen County Wild Duck Pond is the first impression any one gets of Ridgewood  and what they see is a dilapidated ,rundown park.
