Ridgewood NJ, stationery store chain Papyrus is closing its stores. Locally Papyrus has locations in Hackensack at The Shops at Riverside, Paramus at Garden State Plaza, Ridgewood at 76 East Ridgewood Ave., Jersey City at Newport Centre, Chester at Streets of Chester Village and Short Hills at The Mall at Short Hills. Papyrus also has New Jersey locations at Bridgewater Commons and Marlton Square Shopping Center.
Most of the 254 closings will take place over four to six weeks, said Dominique Schurman, CEO of Papyrus parent company Schurman Retail Group.
“This town is turning upside down. Thousands will move in during a very short period of time. Be prepared for a shock.In addition to the garage, to accommodate the new horde a library expansion will follow plus a PAC which is masked under HS needs. Developers have not started with low income housing yet. Just watch. RW will be a mix of Hackensack, Montclair, Englewood and a bit of Paterson as well. Who wouldn’t want to live in this melting pot.

Ridgewood NJ, Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean and Senator Michael Testa’s legislation to boost support for the arts through allowing alcohol sales at small, non-profit theaters has been signed into law.
“This law will encourage more New Jerseyans to go their local theater where they can grab a drink, sit back, and enjoy the show,” said Kean (R-21). “Giving small theaters the opportunity to serve alcohol opens an untapped revenue stream to support plays and performances. This will increase foot traffic and ticket sales, and bolster non-profit theater’s bottom lines across the Garden State.”

Ridgewood NJ, Part of Ridgewood’s Central Business district was shut down on Sunday morning after smoke was found coming from an electrical box on South Walnut Street, according to police and fire department officials.
Around 11 a.m., the Ridgewood Fire Department dispatched shift “B” Shift to investigate an underground smoke condition coming from an electrical box at 11 S. Walnut St. PSE&G responded to make the needed repairs.

Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. “Im a long time resident NOT in favor of these various apartments. Unfortunately in the state of NEW JERKEY a developer can pull a ‘mt laurel’ deal and get many more apartments than we are currently seeing built. Thank the NJ state supreme court. if we didn’t roll over somewhat…we would have had to bend over and grab our ankles. lets hope they are taxed appropriately so if they attract residents with school age kids… they pay.”
“Having lived in 5 Ridgewood Houses over a 50 year period, all with varying levels of communal activity and noise, I feel we need to remember that, good family communities depends on their residents to both follow the rules and equally important, to look past small annoyances for the greater good of the community. IF Glen pickleballers aren’t following the rules or if the rules need to be changed, then so be it. BUT if everyone in town who experiences minor annoyances around school and community activities, reacts like the Glen neighbors, Ridgewood will not be the family community it is today. I’m sure the families of the Glen neighbors have attended many local events and activities, that were more intrusive than the pop of a pickleball. Does Town Council now support building expensive sound barriers around every field in Ridgewood, where the noise level matches the sound of a pickleball?
Standard windscreens, sound muffling bushes, enforcement of prudent rules covering the time of play, max capacity, access & yelling should be enough. Is there such a thing as a muted ball? the only results I get when I search muted pickleball, are articles about Glen.”
