This shall be accomplished through fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, emergency medical services and the extensive pool of resources available to the Village to mitigate disasters either natural or manmade. We are committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our firefighters as we strive to make Ridgewood a safer place to live, work and visit.
I’ve been on various boards and committees in town. I’ve also been mistreated on some of them. But that’s all within the scope of how they work. You can get booted, etc. But what are you implying about having no regard for the law? I can list lots of petty and crony-esque complaints, but if you know that the law is actually being broken you should be specific and report it!

Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood debated moving move forward with the purchase of the Ridgewood Elks club , Councilwomen Bernie Walsh objected to the purchase of the Elks Club for Ridgewood Water , at $200,000 over the appraised value plus $500-700 to 1.5 million in renovations for 30 people . Walsh reiterated that the purchase was just for Ridgewood Water.
Walsh went on noting that class “A” and class “B” office space are plentiful in Bergen County and there was no need for such a major under taking . Walsh felt is was just, “not a smart idea at this time”.
Former Mayor Knudsen pushed the idea for consolidation of space as well as the Elks is last contagious piece of property near the Municipal complex creating greater efficiencies . Mayor Hach wanted confirmation on the renovation estimates because there seemed to be significant disagreement about what was or was not estimated .
The Brogan project is a disaster for the town. None of these high density projects will benefit anyone except the developers and their attorneys. Westfield is paying attention – it does not want to become Montclair or Hackensack which is where Ridgewood is headed. Where do the developers and their attorneys live?
What has started at Brogan will sweep the whole Ridgewood. In a couple of years it will be a brand new city. Oh, and for those who think new housing does not affect schools greatschools.org just lowered RHS grade to 9 from 10. It had been a 10 for many, many years. I can only imagine what the grade will be in a few years at which time we can all kiss goodbye our house values.

This video was originally published in 1986 by James Rose in conjunction with his book The Heavenly Environment. It has been digitally reproduced by The James Rose Center for Landscape Architectural Research and Design. For the first time, this video is now available for public viewing and distribution. It entails shots of several private and largely undiscovered gardens designed by James Rose, as well as shots from his personal residence (now the James Rose Center) in Ridgewood, NJ.
Rose discusses suburban design norms and their inadequacies, alternatives to these norms, and designing gardens based on site characteristics as well as clients’ needs. He covers many topics, such as entrances, paths, swimming pools, screening, zoning, and more.
Ridgewood NJ, The Village Council is looking for residents who are interested in volunteering to serve on the following Boards and Committees: Zoning Board of Adjustment, The Ridgewood Arts Council, the Library Board of Trustees, The Ridgewood Community Center Advisory Board (this member must have a child in the Ridgewood School system), and the Shade Tree Commission. The Deadline for submissions is July 17, 2018 .
The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears variance applications and appeals from rulings and determinations arising from the enforcement of Village zoning ordinances.
The Ridgewood Arts Council will assist in the promotion of and encourage artistic and cultural programs and will provide for educational opportunities in the areas of art and culture. The Ridgewood Arts Council will also provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to the Village Council, as needed.
The Library Board of Trustees is the governing board for the Ridgewood Public Library and its employees. The Board of Trustees works with the community to establish Library policy and secures funds to carry on services to the public, and set goals and objectives.
The Ridgewood Community Center Advisory Board develops policies and procedures for the operation of the Community Center facility and assists in the fulfillment of the County Municipal Alliance Grant requirements. The member position open is for a resident with children in the Ridgewood school system.
The Shade Tree Commission works closely with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Ridgewood Environmental Advisory Committee, and the Green Team to promote awareness and education of the residents as well as advise and provide recommendations to the Village Council in promoting and sustaining a safe and productive shade tree resource.
All interested residents should fill out a Citizen Volunteer Leadership form (found on the Village website by clicking on “Forms”, then clicking on Page 2, and then clicking on “Village Clerk”), and send it along with a cover letter indicating on which board(s) or committee(s) the resident wishes to serve, and a biography or resume to:

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water reminds you July is #SmartIrrigationMonth. July is Smart Irrigation Month, a public awareness campaign to promote efficient water use. In the United States, more water is used in July than in any other month. In summer months, outdoor watering accounts for more than half the total water use of a home in our service area. And most water used to irrigate lawns and landscapes ends up evaporating or on paved areas. During #SmartIrrigationMonth take a look into some water-saving tips that will also produce financial savings and preserve our water resources.
Now is a good time to make sure you’re watering efficiently. A rain shut-off device is an inexpensive gadget to add to your sprinkler system to prevent if from running in the rain. Rain sensors are actually required by law in the state of NJ on automatic sprinkler systems. When it’s hot or windy, more than a third of the water can be lost to evaporation.
