an extra hour of sleep this weekend
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, it’s just about that time to change the clocks back . Sunday, Nov. 6 ends daylight saving time at 2 a.m. This means people should plan on changing clocks on the night of Saturday, Nov. 5, back a full hour. By doing so, you’ll gain an extra hour of sleep. This is where we get the term “fall back.”
Each year, daylight saving time comes to an end on the first Sunday of November. By the way it’s daylight saving time, not saving’s or savings time. It’s singular, no matter how people around you pluralize the phrase.
Since 2007, daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. Previously, it had started on the last Sunday of April and ended on the last Sunday of October.
Daylight saving time became a national standard in 1966 when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Uniform Time Act, which was established as a way to continue to conserve energy. The thinking was if it’s light out longer, that’s less time you’ll need to use the lights in your house.
In todays partisan environment, it seems we cant even agree on what time it is .
There is a push to eliminate “Daylight saving time” and if the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 becomes law, the bill would make daylight saving time the new, permanent standard time as of Nov. 5, 2023. That means, if it becomes law, once clocks spring forward next March they would not again change in November of next year.
In March, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved the Sunshine Protection Act, which would permanently eliminate daylight saving time starting in 2023. The bill awaits a vote within the House of Representatives.
Currently it is unclear if the House will vote this year, given everything else on the agenda once they return after the elections.

Somebody tell the House that the Senate already passed a bill to stop switching back and forth. The House should pass the bill Ana top this madness.
The house has.
The problem is the senate and house disagree on whether we should remain on ST or on DST.
Turn the clocks back Sunday and the country back on Tuesday!
Amen!
Either go back to standard time or keep the “clock switching”
