Ridgewood NJ, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized regulations aimed at curbing tailpipe emissions from passenger cars and light trucks as part of a broader strategy to shift the United States towards electric vehicles.
Under these regulations, auto manufacturers are directed to allocate a portion of their new vehicle sales towards various types of electric vehicles, beginning in 2027. These targets will gradually increase through 2032. The standards are performance-based, allowing manufacturers to choose the types of car technologies to invest in to meet the annually reduced emissions levels of their fleets. In 2023, electric vehicles made up 7.6% of new vehicle sales in the US.
The transportation sector is the largest contributor to US greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for 29% of emissions, with light-duty vehicles representing 58% of transportation-related sources. These regulations are anticipated to decrease US cumulative carbon dioxide emissions, which contribute to soot and smog, by 7.2 billion metric tons between 2027 and 2055. This reduction is equivalent to a year’s worth of all US greenhouse gas emissions.

Here’s a MAJOR problem with the ‘electric car fad’ that nobody talks about. (notwithstanding the child labor mining the minerals needed for batteries, or the coal powered factories in China spewing pollution building batteries, or the excess carbon fumes from ships transporting these batteries here from china)
The idiots in Trenton legislated that the gas tax MUST increase whenever necessary to meet a multi billion dollar annual expenditure for ‘roads’. *likely pissed away on NJ Transit*
At the same time these fools like Murphy and Biden are forcing the electric car mandate.
So as they achieve that goal of more electric (=coal powered) cars, there will be fewer normal cars buying gasoline and paying the gas taxes. So the gas tax will automatically increase.
So the owners of electric cars are getting a FREE ride.
Write your Senator and Assemblyman and tell them to mandate a $1000 annual registration fee for electric cars.
The Democrats always talk about ‘paying your fair share’… so lets see how they answer this

AFAIK, he signed to bill that includes the additional registration fees, which are justified, but excessive for the average driver.

This is criminal. How does the electricity get produced for these vehicles? Through fossil fuel and coal mines! That is being shut down by Biden (Obama administration) Our grid will not handle the extra load. This is real BS!
