Dear Ridgewood Public Schools Community,
I hope that you are enjoying the final weeks of the 2022-23 school year. I am writing to share my excitement on joining Ridgewood Public Schools and to ask for your assistance in preparing for my transition to the district this July.
To begin the important process of building relationships with RPS community members, I would like to invite you to a “Meet & Greet” at Ridgewood High School on Monday, May 15th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. If it fits your schedule, I hope that you will join me for some casual conversation, introductions, and a brief address. Through this event, I hope to increase your comfort with my leadership qualifications and values, while I learn more about Ridgewood from each of you.
I understand that this time of year is filled with activities, celebrations, sporting events, and more, and if you are unable to attend, rest assured that there will be future opportunities for us to meet this summer. Additionally, the address and question and answer session will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
In the meantime, if you would like to learn more about me, please feel free to visit my Superintendent page on the Madison Public Schools website. You will find my bio and links to my monthly Superintendent Coffees and annual State of the Schools Addresses. I hope to bring similar information sharing forums to RPS.
Finally, I would also like to thank the Board of Education, Dr. Fitts, the Education Center team, the administrative team, and the REA officers for making me feel thoroughly welcome already. After many initial conversations, I am confident that the district is poised to have a celebratory close to 2022-23, a peaceful summer, and an exciting start to the 2023-24 school year.
I am looking forward to working with all of you and I hope to see you very soon.
Sincerely,
Mark Schwarz

First question:
After the intense push to move the rhs start time to 8:20 , will u still permit coaches to hold mandatory practice at 6am?
We have become France.
Will he finally publish the late start details? So far no details are known for late start.
Will the busses still pick students two hours before the school start time?
shave
Answer on coaches….NO.
The whole point behind the late start is just that.
6 am ? Are you out of your mind?
I hope he lasts more than a year with this dysfunctional Board of Education.
He’s their guy watch and see
Why the late start if they’re going to give hours and hours of homework that kids have to finish after hours of sports? What’s the point? All they do is stay up even later bc of the work load. shm
You are right. Let’s have shorter class periods, a later start, and less homework. But whatever we do, let’s not shorten those three hour plus after school athletic practices. They need that time. Priorities?
