Lodi NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JAMES MCAROW (DOB: 03/31/1995; single; unemployed) of 221 Westervelt Place, 2nd Floor, Lodi, NJ on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Restraint, and Simple Assault. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.
On Monday, August 24, 2020, Lodi Police received a 911 call, and upon their arrival, they found a woman hiding in a yard who stated that she had been held against her will and physically and sexually assaulted by JAMES MCAROW. She was transported via ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center.
The Lodi Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, and as a result of their investigation, on Monday, August 24, 2020, JAMES MCAROW was arrested and charged by the Lodi Police Department with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(6), a 1st degree crime, one count of Aggravated Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(13), a 3rd degree crime, one count of Criminal Restraint, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-2a, a 3rd degree crime, and one count of Simple Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1a(1), a disorderly persons offense. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, August 25, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Lodi Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
