Ridgewood Public Library Strategic Planning Survey, don’t forget the books

The Ridgewood Public Library is updating its Strategic Plan, which is required every 5 years. Part of the process is asking residents to completea survey regarding many facets of the library, such as how they use the library and feedback on its programming and facilities.

“Anonymous” Email from the “Ramsey Parents Union” Rattles School District

Ramsey NJ, an “anonymous” message challenging the Ramsey school district’s book choices that was emailed to students’ families set off a contentious school board meeting on Tuesday night. Many residents wanted to know where the sender had acquired their email addresses, calling it a security breach, while others took issue with the book-banning message.

Mahwah Public Library Closed Monday, 8/30, and Tuesday, 8/31, for Driveway and Parking Lot Repaving

Mahwah NJ, weather permitting, the Library will be closed Monday, 8/30, and Tuesday, 8/31, as the driveway and parking lots are repaved.  The driveway and parking lot will CLOSED to vehicular traffic during this time.

Please return items to neighboring libraries or hold items for return until Wednesday and the Library will backdate the return so no late fees will be accrued.

University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library (MVOL) program to Distribute 240,000 Books to Newark Public Schools

Newark NJ, Catherine Wilson, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Newark (UWGN), announced that their University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library (MVOL) program in Newark will distribute 240,000 books to participating Newark schools in celebration of its 10th anniversary. UWGN’s University of Chicago MVOL program aims to promote childhood literacy and foster a love of reading in young children. Since it was founded in 2011 in Newark, the program has provided more than 2 million books to elementary school students.
