the Fly Hears More High Density Housing Targeting Ridgewood ……..

highdensity housing

the fly has heard from numerous resident that a person or entity is attempting to buy or did buy property on South Broad St with the alleged purpose of constructing senior housing. This resident wonders when this over density going will stop. Poster may comment that its for senior so whats the problem ?   That maybe true but construction like this still costs the taxpayers. (More police , fire , ems, sanitation personal) not to mention our failing water supply and the conditions of the roads and traffic.So one would ask the question. Why now?  You could  try to blame the 3 Amigos but they been gone for years and ordinances can be changed. What will this council do? When will the destruction of that neighborhood  stop? Rev Johnson must be rolling in his grave.  Remember that just because they build senior housing in Ridgewood doesn’t mean it is exclusively for Ridgewood Resident rather it would be open to county residents or maybe state residents. So don’t hold your breath hoping to sell your house and move in.

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Health Department and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration want you to know that a child’s body temperature can rise up to five times faster than an adult’s. Reader warns ” the need to remove the idiotic bike lane and revert to two car lanes in each direction was clear and inevitable”

Bike Lane Traffic Easing Ridgewood

” If they don’t restore two lanes in each direction at the underpass by the train station VERY VERY SOON (by the fall would be good) it is going to become nearly impossible to shut it down during construction and traffic will become more of a nightmare than it is now. It is going to cost a fortune but the need to remove the idiotic bike lane and revert to two car lanes in each direction was clear and inevitable from the day they announced the project that messed it up. Aronsohn must be laughing hard as he must always have known this would simply mean more contract $$$ for the construction unions who financially supported his political rise. “

Reader says , “Now that we have chosen to be a city, we need to start acting like one”

traffic_2CBD_theridgewoodblog

Once the hundreds of new apartments go in downtown, we will have hundreds if not thousands of more people using the sidewalks and the streets each day. We will need to improve sidewalks, traffic lights, streets, parking areas, traffic flow etc. It might be bad now, but its only getting worse, unless we start planning accordingly, and, unfortunately, spending a lot more than we do now. But we can’t stick our heads in the sand. Now that we have chosen to be a city, we need to start acting like one.

Reader says , ” I agree it is a dangerous town to drive in”

public saftey cbd theridgewoodblog.net

” I agree it is a dangerous town to drive in. First, I was at a red light to make a left under the railroad. When my light turned green, I moved into the intersection and the other driver went through the red light. The worst of it was that they were totally unaware of it. Good thing I was.
The next incident in town was the next street up from the railroad. I stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. A car came out of nowhere and passed me on me on the right, while the pedestrian was in the middle of the crosswalk. A Police Officer witnessed it and pulled the driver over.
A short time later, my Son was driving in that area waiting for a Pedestrian in the crosswalk. A car rear ended his car and he was injured. The driver was going fast.
I am not quite sure what has changed over the years. I always try to be accommodating to anyone on the road in general. Pedestrians must also be made aware that they need to give drivers ample time to stop and they should not just step out into the crosswalk unexpectedly. My best bet is to take a new way home. “

Reader says, ” it is much more dangerous now to be a driver because all pedestrians feel they have the right of way “

public_saftey_cbd_theridgewoodblog

“I still have a bumper sticker on my car from when they tried this several years ago. In my opinion it is much more dangerous now to be a driver because all pedestrians feel they have the right of way even in front of a car making a turn or mere feet in front of you. Maybe it is now time to convince some people that a car turning–or especially backing up–or within a few feet of you CAN’T SEE YOU and you should cease walking out without looking first!”
