Ridgewood NJ, Downtown for the Holidays: Kicking Off the Christmas Season in Ridgewood. The chilly December air was warmed by the community spirit and the festive sounds of the Ridgewood High School (RHS) Band.

It was an honor to perform at this beloved annual tradition, helping the wonderful community spread that extra dose of holiday cheer. A huge thank you is owed to the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a seamless and spectacular evening. Despite the extra cold weather, the RHS Band wishes everyone a joyful and warm holiday season!

Ridgewood NJ, at the October 25 Village Council meeting, a very brief discussion led to the conclusion that there will not be a “live” tree for the town Christmas tree.  Well over  300 people signed an online petition asking that the town stop cutting down a living tree for this purpose.  However, the council concluded that the currently used location is the best one, and a tree cannot be planted there.  So much for Green Ridgewood.

Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday the Village of Ridgewood 2022 Christmas tree was delivered to the central business district in Ridgewood . The tree arrived just before the long overdue paving starts on Franklin Avenue . Ridgewood puts up a fresh tree for Christmas every year  . The yearly tradition is for a donated tree to be cut down and delivered to the Village . The reality is that the donors get a much needed free tree removal and the Village gets a beautiful tree for the holiday season. Downs Tree service cuts the tree down and brings it into town .

Ridgewood NJ, the Chamber of Commerce 2021 Downtown for the Holidays event was different this year due to an abundance of caution over COVID19 the tradition tree lighting countdown was dropped. Planning for the event began mid-summer when there was still a great deal of uncertainty over the virus. The Ridgewood Chamber assures us they looks forward to restoring the traditional elements of Downtown for the Holidays in 2022.  If you couldn’t make it Scott Lief did a fantastic job hosting the Downtown for the Holidays TV broadcasting live on Facebook for the event .
