Fort Lee NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fort Lee Police Department have determined that the circumstances surrounding the death of a 7-year-old boy at a residential apartment complex on Anderson Avenue yesterday were the result of a tragic accident and no criminal activity was involved. On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at approximately 5:29 p.m., the Fort Lee Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a report that a 7-year-old boy had fallen from an upper-floor window. The child was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center and ultimately pronounced deceased.

At no time was there a threat to any of our schools. Law enforcement officials remain on scene at this time. Whiteman Street is closed to traffic between Gerome Avenue and Palisade Avenue.
