NJ Municipalities and Counties Can Now Impose Additional Restrictions on the Hours of Operation of “Non-essential Businesses”

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 195, which permits municipalities and counties to impose additional restrictions on the hours of operation of non-essential retail businesses, food and beverage establishments, and recreation and entertainment businesses after 8:00 p.m. The Order prohibits municipalities and counties from imposing restrictions that prevent dining establishments from arranging for the pickup or delivery of goods or otherwise limiting their scope of operations. The Order will take effect immediately.

First Round of Funding from the $125 Million Library Construction Bond Act Awarded

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today delivered to the Legislature a list of proposed projects for the first round of funding from the Library Construction Bond Act (LCBA). The Library Construction Bond Act authorized $125 million in state bonds to fund critical improvements to New Jersey public libraries. The bond issuance was approved by New Jersey voters in November 2017 and all applicants were required to identify a 50 percent match to fund their proposed projects.

Governor Murphy Imposes New Restrictions on Small Businesses

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy announced additional restrictions on businesses saying they are necessary due to recent state data on COVID-19. Restaurants, bars and casinos, clubs, and lounges must close at 10 p.m., and bar seating will no longer be allowed. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in New Jersey, which represents thousands of small businesses in the state, reacted to that news. Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy Imposes New Restaurant, Sports Restrictions. Directly impacting Village restaurants. All restaurants must close indoor premises by 10 p.m. cannot and cannot reopen until 5 p.m., effective Thursday, Nov. 12th. Outdoor dining can continue past 10 p.m., as can takeout and delivery service,  and heated dining bubbles will be allowed, according to Governor Phil Murphy, who addressed the media this afternoon at the War Memorial in Trenton.

Sussex County Freeholders Vote to Reopen County

Newton NJ , The members of the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted unanimously at their Wednesday night meeting on resolutions urging Governor Phil Murphy to fully reopen Sussex
County businesses in the near future; and a resolution against the increase in taxes and fees on firearms and ammunitions.

“I am very concerned that we will have a poor survival rate of many of our businesses,” said Freeholder Herbert Yardley. “I find it very unfortunate there was not an opportunity to say, ‘Let’s
see if it (a regional reopening) works.’”
