Ho-Ho-Kus NJ,  according to the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire department , “This morning at 04:36 hours, the HHKFD was dispatched to Route 17 North in the area of Hollywood Ave for a reported truck fire. Responding units located an auto transport trailer on fire which appeared to have originated in the rear axle and extended to the lift equipment and at least two vehicles on board.”

Women Leaps or Falls From Warren Avenue Bridge in Ho-Ho-Kus

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, Ho-Ho-Kus Police, Ho-Ho-Kus EMS, and Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department personnel rushed to aid an adult female who either fell or jumped off of the Warren Avenue Bridge into the shallow Ho-Ho-Kus Brook late Tuesday afternoon, 09/08. A “low angle rescue” procedure was implemented by firefighters from Ho-Ho-Kus Fire to extract the victim from the water and transport her up a steep embankment. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Ho-Ho-Kus’ emergency responders. The victim was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Center’s main campus. She was alert and conscious at the time transport began.

Ho Ho Kus Fire Quickly Knocks Down Car Fire on Hollywood Avenue

Ho Ho Kus NJ, This morning at 08:03 hours, the Ho Ho Kus Fire Department was alerted to Route 17 North at Hollywood Avenue for a reported vehicle fire. Responding Police & Fire units located a 1 car MVA into a tree in front of 831 Hollywood Ave with heavy fire. Members from Engine 733 quickly knocked the fire down with assistance from Engine 731. The single occupant of the vehicle was transported by the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Corps. to a local hospital with minor injuries. The Ho Ho Kus Fire Department operated on scene for approximately 57 minutes.

Early Morning House Fire in Midland Park Quickly Brought Under Control

Midland Park NJ, This morning at 01:41 hours the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department was requested into the Borough of Midland Park for a working house fire on Park Ave. Truck 7 responded and assisted the Midland Park Fire Department with a FAST operations, fire attack and extensive overhaul. The fire was quickly brought under control by the Midland Park Fire Department and assisting agencies of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association. Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department  truck 7 cleared the incident at 03:30.

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, At 6:10 pm Saturday evening, while returning from a call, Engine Company 733 spotted a well involved Lamborghini Superleggera on fire at the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and Dogwood Lane.

Engine 733 verbally requested the 1st alarm assignment to the scene and established command. Members from Engine 733 quickly knocked the fire down with assistance from Engine 731 & Ladder 741. The single occupant of the vehicle exited without injury. The Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department operated on scene for approximately 58 minutes.

Mezzaluna Bistro Fire in Allendale still under Investigation

Allendale NJ, on the  morning of December 24th, Allendale Volunteer Fire Department units responded to Mezzaluna Bistro for an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival of Chief 930 and initial units, a smoke condition was found emanating from the front of the building. At that time a second alarm was transmitted and companies stretched in. The fire was located in between the 1st and 2nd floor and required extensive overall after being knocked down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Ho Ho Kus Fire Department was alerted into the Borough of Allendale for a working fire in a mixed occupancy building on West Allendale Avenue. Truck 741 responded and was put to work on arrival. Members assisted the Allendale Fire Department with fire suppression and extensive overhaul operations. Truck 741 operated on scene for approximately 4 hours. Nice work by the Allendale Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association.

North Maple Crash in Ho Ho Kus Sends one to Valley Hospital

Ho Ho Kus NJ, Ho-Ho-Kus Police, Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department, and Ho-Ho-Kus EMS responded to a two (2) vehicle crash in front of 611 North Maple Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus early Tuesday afternoon, 10/23. One (1) crash victim was transported to The Valley Hospital with a non life threatening injury. Fire Department personnel attended to a minor crash related fluid spill and performed a battery disconnect on one (1) vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Ridgewood NJ, Lightning struck a 3-story single family home on Hillcrest Road in Ridgewood during a late Tuesday afternoon, 07/03, thunderstorm, igniting an intense fire inside of the structure’s third floor. Ridgewood firefighters extinguished the blaze within 50 minutes of arriving on location. Firefighters from Waldwick Fire Department , Glen Rock Fire Department , and Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department assisted Ridgewood Fire Department  at the scene. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood EMS, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident. Three (3) dogs were reported to have been inside of the residence when the fire started; their current location/condition is unknown. A team of commercial house painters working at the home when the lightning bolt struck escaped injury.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, A collision involving three (3) tractor trailers resulted in the temporary closure of Route 17 northbound in Ho-Ho-Kus on Friday morning, 06/29. No injuries were reported by any of the drivers involved. One (1) rig jackknifed across the center and right travel lanes, and a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway when a saddle tank on one of the tractors ruptured. Ho-Ho-Kus Police  and Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department responded to the incident along with an emergency response crew from the NJDOT. Traffic was backed up for miles on Route 17 northbound south of the incident.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, A smokey fire that began in a bathroom forced the complete evacuation of the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School on Tuesday afternoon, 05/29. Ho-Ho-Kus Police officers used hand held extinguishers and contained the fire prior to the arrival of Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department and Waldwick Fire Department firefighters. Due to high heat conditions, two (2) ambulances were dispatched to the scene as firefighters worked to ventilate the structure. No injuries were reported in the incident and some students were observed re-entering the building within 30 minutes of the fire alarms sounding. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

Ridgewood NJ, Two (2) injuries were reported in connection with a Saturday morning, 05/05, motor vehicle crash in front of 335 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus. Both victims, including an 8-year old with a head injury, were attended to by members of the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Corps. , Ho-Ho-Kus Police investigated the crash while members of Ho-Ho-Kus Fire department dealt with a crash related fluid spill and battery disconnect. The two (2) vehicles involved in the collision were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Fire Department and Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department personnel extinguished a vehicle fire on Route 17 northbound near Manhattan Avenue in Waldwick on Monday morning, 04/16. Northbound traffic on Route 17 was backed up for miles due to the closure of multiple travel lanes while firefighters worked. Waldwick PD and Ho-Ho-Kus PD officers were also on the scene. The charred vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, Two (2) individuals were transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus early Friday afternoon, 04/13. Ho-Ho-Kus Police , EMS, and Fire Department personnel responded to aid the victims and attend to a crash related fluid spill. Both wrecks were taken away by a flatbed tow truck. Injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature.

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, Ho Ho Kus Police, EMS, and Fire Department personnel responded to a rollover MVA at the intersection of Sheridan Avenue and Warren Place on Thursday morning, 04/05. Ambulance transportation to a local hospital was provided to one (1) adult female crash victim. Her injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature. The rolled over vehicle was righted by several Police & Fire Department members and subsequently removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
