A quiet Sunday evening in Midland Park, NJ, was shattered by a dramatic single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cottage Street and Franklin Avenue. An SUV veered off the road and collided head-on with a home, causing significant damage and sending one person to the hospital with a life-threatening injury.
Midland Park, NJ, Firefighters from the Midland Park Fire Department (MPFD) swiftly responded to a house fire on Highwood Avenue during the early hours of Thursday, February 20. Thanks to their rapid response, the single-family home fire was quickly contained, preventing further damage.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters quickly knocked down an early Monday afternoon, 12/11, structure fire that reportedly originated in the kitchen of a single family home on Liberty Street, Ridgewood. No injuries were reported in the blaze; however, there was an unconfirmed report of a missing dog. Ridgewood Police, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident along with mutual aid fire and EMS units from several nearby communities.

Midland Park NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Midland Park Police Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred at 222 Franklin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
Midland Park NJ, at least one (1) person was hospitalized following an early Wednesday morning, 10/26, crash in which a passenger vehicle slammed into a building after downing a utility pole near the Midland Park Post Office on Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. There appeared to have been moderate damage to a front facing corner of the struck building. The passenger vehicle was totaled; it was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Midland Park Police and Midland Park Fire Department responded to the incident. Ridgewood Police assisted with traffic control.
Midland Park NJ, Two (2) SUVs collided at the intersection of Erie Avenue and Franklin Avenue, Midland Park just before 9 PM on Thursday, 09/08. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be removed from the scene by separate flatbed tow trucks. A traffic light was downed during the collision; a front end loader owned and operated by the Borough of Midland Park lifted it off one (1) of the crashed SUVs. A Midland Park EMS ambulance crew transported an adult driver to The Valley Hospital with a non-life threatening injury; the other driver was shaken, but uninjured. There appeared to have been no passengers in either vehicle. Midland Park firefighters attended to crash related fluid spills, and made both vehicles “safe” prior to their respective removal. The accident investigation was handled by Midland Park Police officers.
Ridgewood NJ, Thursday afternoon, 09/01, multi-family high density housing structure fire, that reportedly originated on a stove top in an unoccupied apartment, resulted in the complete evacuation of the recently constructed “Chestnut Village” housing complex, located in the 100 block of Chestnut Street, Ridgewood. Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel & equipment responded to the incident. Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department and Midland Park Fire Department personnel assisted Ridgewood Fire at the scene. No injuries to firefighters were reported. One (1) adult male building occupant was evaluated by EMTs at the scene; he refused further medical attention. Fire, smoke, and water damage appeared to have been limited to a single apartment.

Midland Park NJ, This morning at 01:41 hours the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department was requested into the Borough of Midland Park for a working house fire on Park Ave. Truck 7 responded and assisted the Midland Park Fire Department with a FAST operations, fire attack and extensive overhaul. The fire was quickly brought under control by the Midland Park Fire Department and assisting agencies of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association. Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department truck 7 cleared the incident at 03:30.
Midland Park NJ, An adult female driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital following a Friday afternoon, 10/11, crash at 190 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Midland Park Police, Midland Park Fire Department, Midland Park EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to the incident. The driver’s 4-door Volvo sedan jumped a curb and caused significant structural damage when it crashed through the front wall of a mixed used building. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked vehicle.
Midland Park NJ, No injuries were reported following a Tuesday afternoon, 10/08, motor vehicle crash in the rear of a medical office building located at 44 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Midland Park Police and Midland Park Fire Department responded to the incident, in which the adult female driver of a BMW SUV mistook a wheelchair ramp for an exit driveway. Structural damage to the office building was limited to two (2) stair railings and support piping for a canopy. The SUV was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Police on the scene did not say whether any summonses would be issued to the driver.
Midland Park NJ, Two (2) single family homes were clipped and two (2) passenger vehicles were heavily damaged when a tree fell in the backyard of a home on Maple Avenue in Midland Park early Friday morning, 07/12. Midland Park Police and Midland Park Fire responded to the incident. No injuries were reported.
