“With bombs detonating in New Jersey and New York this week, the first line of defense against terrorism continues to be police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services professionals. Lt Col Mann : “US national and local leadership are handling this weekend’s terror attacks on civilians like a little boy whistling in the dark”

Scott Mann Head Shot

September 20,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, according to Lt Col Mann the US national and local leadership are handling this weekend’s terror attacks on civilians in New York City, New Jersey, and Minnesota like a little boy whistling in the dark. “Except whistling in this situation doesn’t make the “boogey man” go away, it makes him stronger. The inability of politicians and some law enforcement to identify, grasp, and respond to these emerging local terror realities continues to put American’s at risk,” says Lt Col Mann.

Lt Col Mann gives us some quick thoughts;

Every U.S. citizen should note that ISIS has changed the application of terrorism in America and the West.

Where al Qa’ida strives for grand, spectacular attacks like the World Trade Center and Pentagon, ISIS targets us with a centralized message but de-centralized execution.

While politically correct leaders label these strikes “lone-wolf attacks” and dismiss their effects as local, home-grown amateur events – ISIS is maximizing their ability to bring horrific, inter-personal violence right into our shopping malls, 5K runs, and cafes.

As a Green Beret who spent his life learning and practicing the dark art of Guerrilla Warfare abroad, I say this, “Get Ready America…ISIS has found their game of “horrorism”. And they are going to bring it to us up close and personal than we’ve ever seen. Expect more and more local attacks in our schools, restaurants, and shopping centers for pennies on the dollar to what al Qa’ida manages to do once every couple of years.

The game has changed, and it’s high time we demand in this election year that our leaders acknowledge it.

Scott Mann, is a former Lt. Col and Green Beret. He is the CEO of Mission America and #1 Amazon International Best Selling Book, Game Changers, Going Local to Defeat Violent Extremists. Scott helped pioneer a program of community-based stability in the roughest places of tribal Afghanistan that has been widely accepted by community leaders and law enforcement across the U.S. Scott speaks and trains today’s civilian leaders on recognizing the erosion of trust in our society today, and learning the skills he developed as a Green Beret to address group tensions, make deep human connections, restore trust, and then bridge communities back together from the bottom-up. He spent 23 years in the Army Special Forces Career involved in Foreign Internal Defense, Counter-insurgency, and Stability Missions. He served in the Special Operations for over 18 years and has been a Green Beret for over 15 years in combat deployments in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Iraq and Afghanistan. He is one of the only former Lt. Col’s that is actively still involved in the day-to-day transition of Green Berets from active duty into civilian life. Things New Yorkers Are More Afraid of Than ISIS

cockroach

By Madison Malone Kircher

Welcome to New York. It’s been waiting for you. And by “it,” I mean cockroaches, bedbugs, six train cars with broken air conditioners, and that guy dressed as an off-brand Tickle Me Elmo in Times Square leering at you. There’s a lot to be truly terrified of in this city.

Following the Chelsea bombing that occurred over the weekend, there was lots of talk online about how many New Yorkers weren’t phased or scared by the incident and the potential groups or motives behind it. To which, Twitter user @BobbyBigWheel (known in the real world as Robert Wheel) started a running list of the things one actually has to fear in New York. Ranked number one: getting pushed onto the subway tracks. Number eight: finding out your neighbor has bed bugs. Number 1,563: ISIS.

Gottheimer’s Principals : Raise Money who cares if Iran Builds a Bomb

Josh Gottheimer

Gottheimer’s Price Tag on his Principles: $462,520.00

September 20,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Congressman Scott Garrett was an early and vocal opponent of President Obama’s nuclear arms deal, repeatedly announcing his concerns about the President’s framework in April 2015, voting against the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 in May, and denouncing the deal itself as soon as it was announced in July.

Meanwhile, Josh Gottheimer was waiting to see which way the political winds would blow before he took a stance. He was silent on President Obama’s framework for the deal in April and again in May, on the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 – legislation that paved the way for the deal. He waited a full month before announcing his opposition to the deal itself – and even then, made sure to praise President Obama’s approach. Is it possible that the reason for Gottheimer’s delay in taking a stance on this crucial issue was the series of major Washington, DC fundraisers with Democratic insiders he had scheduled?

From April 2, 2015 when President Obama announced the framework for a deal on Iran’s nuclear program to August 17, 2015, Josh Gottheimer was silent on President Obama’s nuclear deal. Instead, he spent time leveraging his political insider connections to raise $462,520.00, thanks to his Washington, DC lobbyist friends.

Since announcing his “opposition” to the deal, he’s gone on to campaign and fundraise with Members of Congress who embrace the deal and are frequent critics of the State of Israel. He’s also refused to condemn the “ransom” payment to Iran.

Looks like Josh Gottheimer will say anything he needs to in order to get elected, but his loyalties are firmly with those trying to send him to Congress: Washington, DC Democratic lobbyists.

Dangers Rise as America Retreats

domestic terrorism

Fifteen years after 9/11, the next president will face greater risks and a weaker military to combat them.

Sept. 9, 2016 6:45 p.m. ET

Fifteen years ago this Sunday, nearly 3,000 Americans were killed in the deadliest attack on the U.S. homeland in our history. A decade and a half later, we remain at war with Islamic terrorists. Winning this war will require an effort of greater scale and commitment than anything we have seen since World War II, calling on every element of our national power.

Defeating our enemies has been made significantly more difficult by the policies ofBarack Obama. No American president has done more to weaken the U.S., hobble our defenses or aid our adversaries.

President Obama has been more dedicated to reducing America’s power than to defeating our enemies. He has enhanced the abilities, reach and finances of our adversaries, including the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, at the expense of our allies and our own national security. He has overseen a decline of our own military capabilities as our adversaries’ strength has grown.

15 years later, Americans feel more vulnerable to terrorism

islamic Jihad gay night club

By Julian Hattem – 09/11/16 10:30 AM EDT

In the 15 years since planes crashed into the Twin Towers and Pentagon, the United States has spent hundreds of billions of dollars to beef up its domestic security, chased terrorists across two different continents and undertaken the longest war in its history.

Yet for all of its efforts, Americans today feel that they are as or more vulnerable to terrorism than ever.

According to a Pew survey released this week, fully 71 percent of the country says that terrorists’ ability to launch a major attack on the U.S. is as great or greater than it was 15 years ago. Forty percent of the public says the chances of a major attack are higher than they were around 9/11.

The numbers have actually increased since August 2002, less than a year after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Then, a Pew poll found that just 61 percent of the public thought the chances of a similar attack were the same or greater than on Sept. 11. Twenty-two percent thought the odds had increased.

Despite the public’s concern, Islamic extremists have failed to carry out a major coordinated attack on U.S. soil since 2001.

What Drives Foreigners to Join the Islamic State?

ISIS_theridgewoodblog

Hint: It’s not primarily poverty, political grievances, feelings of marginalization or lack of integration. When will world leaders wake up?
BY RYAN MAURO

Tue, August 30, 2016

Almost 15 years after the 9/11 attacks, the West is still debating the cause of such terrorism even as repeated studies and common sense points in one direction:  Islamist ideology based on certain religious interpretations.

Now we can add another study to this heap of evidence, as a new study of foreign fighters has confirmed that ideology is the primary factor.

The new study released by the Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security and Society is based on interviews with 40 foreign fighters who went overseas to join Islamist terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria and 100 other relevant players, such as their family members and online supporters.

Of these, 15 joined the Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL), 12 joined Jabhat al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda’s Syrian wing), three joined the Free Syria Army and 10 joined other rebel groups, mostly jihadist in nature.

Here are five of the most important findings from the study:

The primary factor is religious interpretation.

“As our interactions with these individuals are so heavily mediated by a religious discourse, we also think that religiosity (i.e., sincere religious commitment, no matter how ill-informed or unorthodox) is a primary motivator for their actions. Religion provides the dominant frame these foreign fighters use to interpret almost every aspect of their lives.”

And:

“There is a real concern with real moral issues, with knowing and doing the right thing—again, not as determined by the seeming apathetic and corrupt surrounding society but by some higher or transcendent authority.”

This is the obvious conclusion that many observers have sought to deny, such as when former State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf said ISIS is caused by unemployment and subsequently defended her comments. She was laughed out of her job, but her illogical understanding of the problem remains pervasive as many Westerners desperately seek to find a more comforting and relatable cause than Islamism for Islamist terrorism.

One Western Muslim told the authors, “The zeal of jihad always struck me when I would sit in my room and read Quran with English translation. I would wonder how jihad was fought today.”

The political gripes of the Islamist terrorists are a subset of their religious gripes.

“[Most] provided justifications for being a foreign fighter that were largely moral and religious in character, more than explicitly political.”

The researchers found that the decision to become a foreign fighter was more about rejecting Western governments and societies than a decision to combat Western foreign policy.

The common mantra that Islamist radicalization is simply a religious expression of political protests over Western “imperialism” is false. The primary factor is the adoption of the ideology and those that hold that ideology will become exponentially more infuriated over the West’s foreign policy. If you believe in resurrecting the caliphate, then you’ll rage against the West’s presence in the Middle East that stands in your way.

It’s not about inequality.

“None indicate, directly or indirectly, that forms of socio-economic marginalization played a significant role in their motivations to become a foreign fighter.”

Here we have yet another study finding no connection between Islamist radicalization and unemployment, poverty, lack of education, broken families, mental illness, etc. About half of the foreign fighters in this sample went to university and one-third graduated.

The study identified five “ecological niches of homegrown terrorism:” Late modernity (our Internet-driven society); the immigrant experience (most come from Muslim immigrant families); youthful rebellion; ideology and group dynamics.

The linkage between Islamism and lack of integration is overemphasized.

“The correlation between marginalization or lack of integration and radicalization are not as robust as commonly assumed.”

Previous studies have shown a linkage between a lack of assimilation and Islamist radicalization. For example, Marc Sageman’s pivotal study based on 400 biographies of Al-Qaeda members found that80% “were, in some way, totally excluded from the society they lived in.”

This study doesn’t deny that a correlation exists, but rather that the correlation is played up too much. The authors refer to how some respondents described feeling out of place in the West as they saw how it conflicted with their faith. In these cases, the religious belief is prompting the individual to marginalize himself, as opposed to Western society marginalizing the individual and pushing him towards radical beliefs.

They aren’t lone wolves.

“The process of self-radicalization needs to be legitimated to be complete.”

The researchers found that, in most cases, “outside mentors” enter the Islamist’s life and guide him into becoming a foreign fighter. They are not lone wolves if they are being led, even if it is online.

The West can either craft a strategy for each Islamist terrorist group it goes up against, starting over and over with each new manifestation or it can target the common variable between all of them. This study, like others before it, finds that the common variable is Islamism and its foundational religious interpretations.

DONALD J. TRUMP ADDRESSES RADICAL ISLAM AND THE AGE OF TERROR

-donald-trump-candidacy-speech-thridgewoodblog

Donald Trump delivered remarks today on Radical Islam which can be read with footnotes here:

Thank you. It is great to be with you this afternoon. Today we begin a conversation about how to Make America Safe Again. In the 20th Century, the United States defeated Fascism, Nazism, and Communism. Now, a different threat challenges our world: Radical Islamic Terrorism. This summer, there has been an ISIS attack launched outside the war zones of the Middle East every 84 hours. 1 2 Here, in America, we have seen one brutal attack after another. 13 were murdered, and 38 wounded, in the assault on Ft. Hood. 3 4 The Boston Marathon Bombing wounded and maimed 264 people, 5 and ultimately left five dead – including 2 police officers. 6 In Chattanooga, Tennessee, five unarmed marines were shot and killed at a military recruiting center. 7 Last December, 14 innocent Americans were gunned down at an office party in San Bernardino, another 22 were injured. 8

Gottheimer Silent on $400 million Bribe Paid to Iran the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism

Joshua S
August 11,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Congressman Scott Garrett has been a strong advocate for Israel. He has sponsored or cosponsored numerous pieces of legislation supporting Israel’s right to defend its sovereignty, recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, and condemning Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. He was an outspoken member of the Iran Sanctions Conference Committee, calling for full implementation of strong sanctions against the Iranian regime, and he strongly opposed the Iran Nuclear Deal. In contrast, our Democrat challenger, Josh Gottheimer, claims to be a supporter of Israel, but he waited weeks before publicly stating his position, obviously waiting to see which way the wind was blowing. That’s not leadership, that’s political opportunism.

What You Won’t Read in the Liberal Media: Gottheimer Praises Obama on Iran

Despite his recent political positioning otherwise, Josh Gottheimer has a track record of being a vocal supporter of President Obama’s Iran policy. You would have no way of knowing that, because despite being provided this information, The Record, Star Ledger, NJ Herald, and other NJ papers have refused to write about this important issue.

The Iranian government just wrapped up some impressive “fundraising” this past quarter. Usually their “donors” are terrorist organizations and states that threaten our security.  Well, apparently that “donor list” now includes President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s State Department. Recently, it has been reported that the Obama Administration gave $400 million to the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Before he was a congressional candidate, Gottheimer was a political strategist who served as a surrogate for Obama/Clinton foreign policies as a frequent contributor on cable news.

Voters in the Fifth District are curious to know – what does Josh Gottheimer really think? Is he saying one thing just to get elected, when really, he’s just a mouthpiece for a Democrat Administration?

Orlando Shooters Father Attends Hillary Rally , Disparages Gays ,Endorses Hillary

Omar Mateen, Terrorist Who Attacked Orlando Gay Club

Seddique Mateen seen sitting right behind Clinton

Tory Dunnan

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Hillary Clinton spoke to a crowd in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando.  She was supposed to be talking jobs, but started the speech off paying tribute to those affected by the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

“I know how many people, families, loved ones, and friends are still grieving, and we will be with you as you rebuild your lives.”

WPTV happened to notice the man, who has a mustache and was wearing a red hat, behind Clinton. It was Seddique Mateen , the father of Orlando mass shooter Omar Mateen.

NewsChannel 5 asked Mateen what he was thinking about when Clinton spoke about the Orlando incident.

“We’ve been cooperating with the federal government, and that’s about it,” he said. “Thank you.”  Mateen didn’t want to answer any other questions, but just hours later, we ran into him by chance at a rest stop on the way back to West Palm Beach.  He wanted to do an interview and show us a sign he made for Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump, who has no solutions,” he said.

What has the Orlando gunman’s father said?

Last Updated Jun 13, 2016 2:14 PM EDT

The Orland gay club gunman’s father has well-known anti-American views and is an ideological supporter of the Afghan Taliban. A new message posted by the father on Facebook early Monday morning also makes it clear he could have passed anti-homosexual views onto his son.

Seddique Mir Mateen, father of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, who died in a shootout with police after killing at least 49 people early Sunday morning, regularly attended Friday prayers at a Florida mosque with his son.

Details on suspected Orlando gunman Omar Mateen

In the video posted early Monday, Seddique Mateen says his son was well-educated and respectful to his parents, and that he was “not aware what motivated him to go into a gay club and kill 50 people.”

The elder Mateen says he was saddened by his son’s actions during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He then adds: “God will punish those involved in homosexuality,” saying it’s, “not an issue that humans should deal with.”

Iran: $400 Million in Cash Was Part of ‘Expensive Price’ to Free U.S. Hostages

New Iranian television footage shows stacks of cash

BY: Adam Kredo
August 5, 2016 11:50 am

Iranian television has broadcast what some say is purported footage of the $400 million pallets of cash that officials claim was part of the “expensive price” paid by the Obama administration to free several U.S. hostages.

The footage, which could not be independently verified, shows images of large stacks of hard currency and features claims that the Obama administration sent this money over as part of an effort to free several U.S. hostages. The White House vehemently denied these claims this week following new reports about the cash exchange.

BBC Persian reporter Hadi Nili posted the footage on Twitter, describing it as showing the “pallets of cash” and quoting officials as saying “this was just part of the ‘expensive price’ to release Americans.”
