It is almost hard to believe that Ridgewood (and neighboring towns) have residents with sub zero brains–at least as far as preventing robbery. What is so hard to understand about the above placard? It is composed of 4 letter words LOCK, TAKE KEYS. If we actually have residents that can’t understand such simple terms, Ridgewood’s education is in even worse trouble than we thought.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, Ho Ho Kus Police department reported on July 26th that , in the area of West Saddle River Rd, north of Hollywood Ave, there were several vehicles entered.
All residents are reminded to please lock their vehicles and remove the key fobs.

Saddle River NJ, Last night two vehicles were stolen from two different residential driveways in Saddle River. Both vehicles were unlocked and the key fobs were left in the vehicles. Several other unlocked vehicles were entered and burglarized by these actors during the overnight.
Saddle River and several neighboring jurisdictions have been experiencing high end auto thefts and auto burglaries. If everyone removes the keys and key FOB’s from their vehicles these thefts will stop. Locking your vehicle when its in the driveway prevents car burglaries from occurring and deters criminals from our area.
Most crimes are prevented or criminals are caught when the public assists the Police by reporting suspicious persons and activity. Discuss this with your neighbors, family and friends. Advise them to secure their homes and vehicles and to report suspicious activity when it is observed, not the following day. It seems like a large number or stolen cars are luxury vehicles with keys still in the car. Are they all really being stolen without the owners’ wishes? How many found they had bought a car they couldn’t afford and left it virtually open to be stolen? If insurance companies would wise up and not pay unless the vehicle seizure was not helped in any way by the owners. You would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to have seen the multiple police warnings. (and if you were all three, you can’t drive a car anyway.) If you want to keep your car, lock it up, and don’t leave valuable items in sight within it. Otherwise it should be assumed that you’re not just incredibly stupid but you want the car stolen.

Glen Rock NJ, The Glen Rock Police Department warns residents that Glen Rock as well as the surrounding towns have again been experiencing a rash of stolen vehicles overnight from driveways. All vehicles that are being stolen have the KEY FOBS LEFT INSIDE making it extremely easy for thieves to steal them. Please remember to remove your key fobs from your vehicles and lock the doors.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, on 10-03-17, Ho Ho Kus Police reported another vehicle has been stolen from town this weekend !!
Again, the key fob was left in the vehicle, making for a quick and easy get away.
