Washington DC, President Trump signed a memorandum yesterday to hold local politicians accountable for refusing to protect their communities from ongoing riots, lootings, and mass property destruction.

Per the memo, Federal agencies will identify what funds are provided to Seattle, Portland, New York City, and other jurisdictions that have allowed violence, lawlessness, and property damage to persist. Agencies will also determine what authorities are available to withhold these funds if and when necessary.

Where permissible, the Administration will restrict eligibility for certain Federal grants until these jurisdictions take the necessary steps to protect their residents.

NEW YORK NY, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) served four immigration subpoenas Friday on the New York Department of Corrections (NYDOC) requesting information on multiple illegal aliens who were criminally arrested in New York City, and yet under New York’s non-cooperation policies officials have refused to honor ICE detainers or even provide ICE with information about the release dates of criminal alien public safety threats. Issuance of these immigration subpoenas was necessary because the NYDOC has continued to ignore ICE’s requests for information and cooperation.

FBI: NEW JERSEY MAN WANTED TO BLOW UP PRESSURE COOKER BOMB IN NEW YORK CITY

POINT PLEASANT, New Jersey (WABC) –A New Jersey man is facing charges after authorities say he planned to construct and use a pressure cooker bomb in support of ISIS.

Gregory Lepsky, 20, of Point Pleasant, was arrested on February 21 and is charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

According to the criminal complaint, Lepsky was taken into custody after he threatened to kill the family dog. The dog was found with a large slash to its back, but was still alive. Lepsky reportedly stabbed the dog because, in his view of Islam, the dog was “dirty.”

Following the arrest, officers searched the residence and reportedly found a new pressure cooker stored behind a roll of bubble wrap in his bedroom closet.

N.J. warns of ‘traffic Armageddon’ without tunnel funding

Ridgewood Crash Creates Traffic Havoc

Nicholas Pugliese , State House Bureau, @nickpugzPublished 5:27 p.m. ET April 19, 2017

Several of New Jersey’s high-ranking elected officials gathered in Newark Penn Station Wednesday to present the federal government with a dire warning: either follow through on a commitment to fund a portion of the $24 billion trans-Hudson rail project known as Gateway or, in the words of U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, prepare for “traffic Armageddon.”

“We are in a state of crisis,” said Booker, a Democrat. “In fact, we are long past a state of crisis and New Jersey residents are feeling it just about every single day.”

Gateway, perceived as one of the most important infrastructure projects in the country, would double rail capacity between Newark and New York City by digging a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River and upgrading aging bridges, among other improvements.

But it’s a race against time. The current two-track tunnel under the Hudson River was badly damaged during Superstorm Sandy and will need to be repaired in the next 20 years, reducing train service by 75 percent.

Tax rates floated for 2 new casinos near New York City

Online-Gambling-030311L_0

Updated: SEPTEMBER 13, 2016 — 5:07 PM EDT

by WAYNE PARRY, The Associated Press

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – State voters are being promised that millions of dollars in new funding will flow to programs for senior citizens and the horse racing industry and to help a struggling Atlantic City if they approve a ballot question authorizing two new casinos near New York City. But what they’re not being told is what tax rate the new casinos in the northern part of the state would pay or how much new money would be available.

On Tuesday, a state lawmaker proposed specific tax rates for the new gambling halls. Assemblyman Ralph Caputo told The Associated Press a casino at the Meadowlands Racetrack might be taxed at 35 to 40 percent while a costlier one in Jersey City could pay 15 to 20 percent.

“We’ve lagged behind in terms of being transparent,” said Caputo, a northern New Jersey Democrat and former casino worker. “There’s no use kidding anybody about that. The tax rate needs to be established.”

The proposal came as pro- and anti-casino expansion forces are pouring millions of dollars into ads in the nation’s most expensive media market to influence the outcome of the November referendum.

When you are a research physician and a registered pharmacist who works as a medical director, you must certainly dream of what your progeny will become: surgeon, physicist, medical mogul?

When Wes Hauptman told his parents, Dr. Jonathan Hauptman and Cindy Starr, he wanted to be a comedian, they didn’t laugh; they told him, “That sounds good. Let’s find some classes you can take.”

“If they didn’t believe I can do it they would not have supported my choice,” the 21-year-old Emerson College senior says. They’re very supportive.”

So is his sister, Emily, who is also an Emerson student and also a comedian. “She got me into this,” says Wes. “She said ‘just try it. Just do it.'”

“I was always funny,” he says matter-of-factly in answer to a question. Growing up in Ridgewood, he had a brief history with Ridgewood High School New Players. “I had a very, very tiny role,” he recalls, “one line in a 2-hour show. Once I was an ugly, awkward nerd. But basically, it made me hungrier to perform.”

In his sophomore year at Emerson in Boston he was a TV producer major. “I started stand-up,” says the young man who writes his own material.

The summer before his junior year, Wes started looking for an internship, sending emails “all over the place.” He heard from the director of new talent at the Gotham Club in New York City who gave him an offer for that summer, Appearing there twice, he says, “I did a 6-minute set. I have some stage fright; but after I get started and people are laughing I feel comfortable.” He wrote to audition for AXS TV Live at Gotham – and was the youngest among 12 to be invited to audition. “I didn’t get it, but I think I will be invited again,” he says.
