Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is joining with the National Safety Council in recognizing National Safety Month during the month of June and is using this time of heightened awareness to promote a lifesaving partnership with Waze which identifies the location of grade crossings on their mobile app throughout the state. This collaboration between

NJ TRANSIT’s private and public sector partners, along with employees and customers throughout the month, is paramount to the effort of effectively promoting safety awareness throughout the public transportation system.

Beginning June 6th, Additional Bay Head-Long Branch Weekend Shuttles Restored for the Summer

LONG BRANCH NJ, NJ TRANSIT is restoring nearly 60 trains just in time for the summer season and increased ridership for customers returning to the office due to the continued economic reopening. New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti was joined at Long Branch station by Congressman Frank Pallone, state Senator Vin Gopal, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett and Long Branch Mayor John Pallone to announce the milestone.

NJ TRANSIT UNVEILS ROADMAP TO 100% ZERO-EMISSIONS BUS FLEET

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT continues to aggressively advance its zero-emissions bus program with the release of its roadmap to a 100% zero-emission bus fleet, at today’s Board of Directors Energy & Sustainability committee meeting.  The roadmap is highlighted by several key efforts in recent weeks including the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified consulting firms for the Bus Garage Modernization Program and the application submitted for federal funding to acquire additional battery electric buses to be used in the Newark region. NJ TRANSIT also remains on track for the launch of the deployment of eight electric buses in Camden by the end of this year.

East Rutherford NJ, as the summer season begins, NJ TRANSIT announces the return of service to family-friendly destinations with the resumption of NJ TRANSIT bus service to American Dream and Six Flags Great Adventure and Safari and Hurricane Harbor. Bus service to/from Six Flags and weekend bus service between American Dream and the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) both resume Saturday, May 29th.

Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on or about May 15, 2021, the Glenwood Road Hill will be closed while the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Transit improve the railroad crossing at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station. This closure will last for approximately 30 days. When Glenwood Road reopens, it will be a one-way street, down the hill.

NJ Transit Breaks Ground on New $31.5 Million Lyndhurst Train Station

Lyndhurst NJ, Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett, and state and local officials today celebrated the groundbreaking for construction of a new, ADA-accessible train station in Lyndhurst.  The new facility, thanks to $30.9 Million provided by the state’s partners at the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), replaces a station more than a century old and will be located at the intersection of Delafield Avenue and Court avenues, a more convenient location closer to the commuter parking lot.

Elizabeth NJ, during the early morning hours of 3/19/21, NJTPD officers responded to a report of a conductor assaulted at North Elizabeth Station. The officers apprehended a subject who allegedly struck a conductor in the face with a closed fist. This subject now faces multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, Hindering, and Theft of Service.⁣⁣

NJT REWARDS Debuts Next Month; Customers Can Earn Discounts and More at Shops, Restaurants and Attractions

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT customers will soon have the chance to save money at local businesses through NJT REWARDS, the new free NJ TRANSIT rewards program pilot where customers earn points towards purchases at participating local businesses. Beginning April 5th customers can join the program through the NJ TRANSIT mobile app and begin earning points, which can be redeemed for deals at participating local shops, restaurants and attractions as well as at participating national chains.
