NJ Turnpike Authority: Text message scam targets New Jersey tollpayers

Ridgewood NJ, the FBI released a public service announcement warning of an uptick in unpaid road toll SMiShing scams. Since the scams started in early March 2024, over 2,000 complaints have been made to the FBI from at least three states, and it appears to be moving from state to state, including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. On April 12, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority issued a statement alerting drivers that the scam had begun to target drivers throughout the state.

Tolls on NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway Rise

Hamilton NJ, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, announced today the launch of its “See Something, Say Something” public safety campaign in addition to Variable Message Signs around the state to remind drivers along the state’s major interstates to remain vigilant and report potential threats and suspicious activity related to terrorism or other criminal activity.

Paramus NJ, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Spotted this in Paramus on Linwood Avenue on Tuesday , the home owner neatly cleaned their sidewalk  ,while the Garden State Parkway failed to do so .The Borough of Paramus  would issue a  fine to the home owner if they failed to shovel off the sidewalk, but the Garden State Parkway suffers no consequence ?

New Jersey Turnpike Authority Removes American Flags From Overpasses on the Eve of September 11th

Trenton NJ, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority acknowledged last week it has removed flags from highway overpasses,The move has upset veterans groups and at least one police union in the days before the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Senator Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso (both R-Monmouth) today condemned the misguided removal of American flags by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) from highway overpasses and moved forward with legislation to unequivocally allow them to be flown.

We have heard that the Governor has intervened and reversed the decision but we can not confirm.

Trenton NJ, New Jersey Turnpike Authority voted to increase tolls on the Garden State Parkway and the New jersey Turn Pike .The Parkway and Turnpike increases were both approved by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which manages the highways, in a 7-0 vote during a remotely-held Wednesday meeting. It followed three hours of public comment from many who oppose the increase.

In New Jersey and Raising Taxes is Far More Important than  a National Pandemic

WOODBRIDGE NJ,  The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is holding two public hearings about a proposed toll increase today, despite the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Sierra Club has asked them to postpone hearings and extend the public comment period because of Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 103. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Sierra Club staff members are barred from attending public meetings or asking our members to attend public meetings. This is true for many environmental organizations and NGOs as well. We are being more responsible than the NJ Turnpike Authority to protect public health and safety.
