LONG BRANCH NJ, NJ TRANSIT is restoring nearly 60 trains just in time for the summer season and increased ridership for customers returning to the office due to the continued economic reopening. New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti was joined at Long Branch station by Congressman Frank Pallone, state Senator Vin Gopal, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett and Long Branch Mayor John Pallone to announce the milestone.

NJ Transit Breaks Ground on New $31.5 Million Lyndhurst Train Station

Lyndhurst NJ, Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett, and state and local officials today celebrated the groundbreaking for construction of a new, ADA-accessible train station in Lyndhurst.  The new facility, thanks to $30.9 Million provided by the state’s partners at the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), replaces a station more than a century old and will be located at the intersection of Delafield Avenue and Court avenues, a more convenient location closer to the commuter parking lot.

Ridgewood NJ, Village Council members Wednesday night resoundingly rejected a plan to relocate the Village’s bus terminal from Van Neste Square to Wilsey Square, citing the proposed elimination of 17 municipal parking spaces (at Wilsey Square) in conjunction with such a plan as their major concern.

Newark NJ, This morning, an observant commuter noticed an injured hawk hiding outside Newark Penn Station. The commuter alerted New Jersey Transit Police officers who quickly devised a rescue plan. The District 2 Officers worked together to ensure the hawk was safely contained without further injury to itself or others. They then transported the hawk to proper medical care.⁣
