Ridgewood NJ, former Ridgewood Mayor Patrick (Pat)  A. Mancuso dies at 84, known for his cigar smoking and meeting and greeting residents and merchants walking up and down East Ridgewood Avenue . Pat was husband of Marie S. Mancuso, he passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at Embrace Hospice House.A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 2nd at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.

Ridgewood NJ, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Ridgewood, hosts an “Open Center” every Wednesday night. Teenagers of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church parish get together for the youth group’s “Open Center”. Teens enjoy ping pong, pool, air hockey, foosball or just hang out and talk with each other. Then we gather together for Shared Prayer. All high school teens are welcome !

Newark NJ, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, will ordain five men to the priesthood during the Rite of Ordination on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. in Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Cardinal Tobin will also ordain four transitional deacons during a separate ordination at the Cathedral on Sunday, May 22, at noon.

Paramus NJ, organized through Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood last week 25 junior high and high school teens along with 5 adults, spent some time volunteering at Juniper Village. For two hours each day last week, our young people spent time with the senior citizens.

Ridgewood Teens Join Other Teens Volunteering for New Archdiocese of Newark Service Program

Ridgewood NJ,  Dozens of young Archdiocese of Newark parishioners volunteered some of their vacation time this summer to assist with maintenance projects at sites throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties. Their efforts were part of “Days in the Diocese,” a new program presented by the Archdiocese’s Office for Youth & Young Adult Ministry that offered one-day service immersion experiences to teens enrolled in a parish youth group or Confirmation program.

The hawk has moved into the trees behind the Religious Ed Building (former Convent) and can be seen perched on the chimney of that building or the school throughout the day. He/She also likes to perch on the crosses on the roof line of the church. Next time you are here look up and see if you can spot it!

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Food Drive Collects 4,397.3 Pounds of Frozen Turkeys

Ridgewood NJ, according to their Faceboook page Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church food drive collected 302 turkeys and seven SUV’s filled with other nonperishable food items . The turkeys were split up with  253 going to Fr. English, 25 to Ridgewood Social Services (the maximum they could take) and 24 turkey breasts and one ham for Ridgecrest Seniors.  Nonperishable food items were also divided up for the three locations.

If interested, your family will pick up an empty box (and informational materials) from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, shop for small gifts, fill it, and drop off. Donations will bless children, worldwide, suffering from extreme poverty by sharing the joy of Christmas and planting seeds of hope through the Gospel.
