Ridgewood NJ, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Msgr. Sheeran has tested Positive for COVID19. Father Ron explains the situation in and email:
UP-DATE FROM THE PASTOR – 1/9/21
As I have written before, we are blessed that all the parish priests have tested negative for Covid 19.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Msgr. Sheeran. In a phone conversation, he informed me that he has tested positive, though apparently he was asymptomatic. Since we were in quarantine last Sunday, we are safe. Since Msgr. Sheeran maintained social distancing, wore a mask and disinfected his hands before distributing Communion at the 11:00AM Mass last Sunday, I don’t think anyone who received from him had the kind of contact that would be a cause for concern. If you did receive from him and feel any of the known symptoms, please consult your physician and notify me as well. Msgr. will not return until he has tested negative.
As always, I will keep you informed of any circumstances that affect your well-being.
Fr. Ron
Get well soon Msgr. Sheeran.
Any gathering in a closed confined space with hundreds of people is a super spreader event until we are all vaccinated and beat this virus. Fr Ron, the best way not to negatively effect one’s well being today by the Church leadership is to conduct a remote viewed Mass until it is safe to return. I am sure Jesus would not mind us missing communion a few more times so that we can remain healthy and therefore be able to thereafter spread God’s many good works in our community. I would prefer this type of spreading to spreading of a deadly virus. I will pray for the Msgr’s swift recovery. And my advice to all those that received communion from him last week, with symptoms or not , go the BCCC and get a test, it is free.

That’s right Tommy.
Shut down the church.
It’s what Jesus would want.
