Three Get Prison After NJ State Police Shut Down Passaic County Opioid Mill

Paterson NJ,  Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today announced a seven-year prison sentence for a Pennsylvania resident convicted in the operation of a Passaic County opioid mill that distributed bulk quantities of fentanyl and heroin reportedly linked to more than a dozen fatal overdoses.  The illegal drug manufacturing enterprise was dismantled in March 2020 as a result of an investigation led by the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Trafficking North Unit, working within the NJSP Opioid Enforcement Task Force (OETF).

Paterson NJ, acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced that eight defendants were indicted today on second-degree conspiracy and other charges related to the operation of a Paterson “chop shop” that possessed stolen vehicles and stripped them for parts. They were charged in a joint investigation by the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) and the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). Trenton NJ, the NJ  Attorney General’s Office has been conducting three investigations of fatal police-involved shootings since the beginning of the year . These investigations are statewide Paterson,Keansburg and Millville  and being conducted since the first of the year .These investigation is being conducted pursuant to Attorney General Directive 2019-4, which implements the statutory requirement that the Attorney General’s Office conduct the investigation of any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody, and which establishes clear standards and procedures for conducting such investigations.

Hinchliffe Stadium Begins to Take Shape

Paterson NJ, yes it is finally really happening,  in October 2019 the Paterson’s City Council approved an agreement with developers for a renovation that could save the historic landmark during an Oct. 1 meeting. The roughly $76-million project is expected to turn the stadium into a 7,800-seat athletic facility, with a 314-space parking garage, restaurant with museum exhibits dedicated to Negro League baseball, 75-unit apartment building for senior citizens and a 5,800-square-foot childcare facility. EDA still needs to authorize the $49.9 million state tax credits for the $76.7 million project.

Newark NJ, it’s starting to sound like the roaring 20’s with “speakeasies” popping up all over the place.  In Newark two women who served alcohol to over 200 people at an illegal “makeshift bar” in New Jersey were arrested over the weekend. According to Newark’s Department of Public Safety , a 26-year-old Denisse Tinizaray and 28-year-old Katherine Tinizaray were unable to provide paperwork that proved they had a license to sell alcohol at a warehouse on Libella Court where people ate, drank and gambled illegally.

Paterson NJ, in a new report, NorthJersey.com claims that more people have been shot in Paterson this year than at any other time in the past decade, according to city statistics. The Ridgewood blog originally reported that Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh is blaming Governor Murphy’s early prisoner release program for the surge in gun crime.

Jessica Diaz , the Public Information Officer for the City of Paterson told the Ridgewood blog in an email that  Mayor Sayegh stated this ( Governor Murphy’s early prisoner release program)  may only be a possible contributing factor to the incidents and he is not blaming the Governor’s program for the uptick in gun crime.
