Ridgewood NJ, Maeve Cunningham, a 16-year-old junior at Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, New Jersey, captivated the audience this afternoon as a Finalist on the last day of the Schmidt Vocal Arts High School Nationals competition. The event took place at the prestigious Sarasota Opera in Sarasota, Florida.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood community gathered today at Van Neste Square to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. The annual Memorial Day Service, hosted by the Ridgewood American Legion Post 53, began at 11 am and was a moving ceremony dedicated to honoring those we have lost.

Ridgewood High School’s Latin students have once again proven their excellence on the national stage, achieving remarkable success on the 2024 National Latin Exam. With an outstanding display of talent and dedication, these students not only made their presence known but also emerged as standout performers, securing a total of 95 awards, including two perfect papers!

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has learned thru the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association of the passing of beloved teacher, coach and counselor Richard “Dick” LaRue. Dick’s commitment to education spanned a lifetime. He began his career at RHS teaching English and Spanish, in addition to coaching soccer and track, from 1953 to 1958. After almost 20 years away, Dick returned to RHS in 1977 to serve as a guidance counselor until his retirement in 1990.

Ridgewood High School senior Isabella Winn is one of the top soccer midfielders in the state with the uncanny ability to make a difficult game look easy. She sees openings that others can’t and swoops in to win ball battles that others won’t. She is graduating in January to get a head start in college with the defending national champion UCLA Bruins.
