Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday night the Village Hall swore in 2 new fighters . Chad Miller, Kevin Monton, and Steven Scanapico became Ridgewood firefighters in front of enthusiastic friends and family. The large crowd spilled out into the hallway and gave a rousing applause for each firefighter .

While many were disappointed over the loss of the tree lighting count down . sources in side the Chamber tell the Ridgewood blog that 2021 was the best attended in years .

Ridgewood NJ, the Chamber of Commerce 2021 Downtown for the Holidays event was different this year due to an abundance of caution over COVID19 the tradition tree lighting countdown was dropped. Planning for the event began mid-summer when there was still a great deal of uncertainty over the virus. The Ridgewood Chamber assures us they looks forward to restoring the traditional elements of Downtown for the Holidays in 2022. If you couldn’t make it Scott Lief did a fantastic job hosting the Downtown for the Holidays TV broadcasting live on Facebook for the event .

Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood Shade Tree Commission in cooperation with the Village Council and the Village Administrator , are planting new trees in the Central Business District.
Ridgewood NJ, Two Ridgewood High School students, Nicholas Cho (Grade 11) and Joshua Fishkin (Grade 10) were accepted into The William P. Lauder Junior Internship Program, a highly competitive program offered by the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education. Only forty students, in grades 7-11, are selected from a nationwide pool to participate in a “dynamic and unique learning opportunity to engage with testimonies – personal stories – from survivors and witnesses of genocide.” To be considered, both RHS applicants submitted a personal letter of interest and a reference letter from an educator familiar with the student’s educational background.
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Arts Foundation presented its fall grants and scholarships to Master Art Studio, The Ridgewood Historical Society, and RHS student Celina Kim. The foundation supports artists and arts organizations in Ridgewood and surrounding communities. Ridgewood NJ, Despite allegations being made publicly by both Rurik Halaby and Siobhan Winograd, the delays associated with Bagelicious’ reopening are NOT being caused by the Village’s failure to act promptly on requests being made of them by the owner/operator of Bagelicious, or his general construction contractor. Mr. Rosales is reportedly frustrated that these two individuals are attempting to politicize the reopening of Bagelicious without his consent.

Ridgewood NJ, Cards of Joy – Sponsored by The Ridgewood Stigma Free Committee – Deadline is December 15th – The Ridgewood Stigma Free Committee is sponsoring a “Cards of Joy” holiday greeting campaign to encourage everyone to create a greeting card that is colorful, creative and decorative or create a card with a heartfelt message, which will be distributed to older residents in Ridgecrest or SHARE Senior Housing and at New Bridge Medical Center. Inside the card, write a letter, starting with “Dear Friend” and then signing your first name. Do not put a date on it. In the letter, think about what the recipient might like to read and offer encouraging advice about the small joys in life, in a positive, motivating and joyful way. Wish them a healthy and happy holiday season. No envelope is needed, just drop your card off at the Reception Desk in the lobby of Village Hall, the special mailbox at the Ridgewood Public Library for “Cards of Joy” or the mailbox at New Bridge Medical Center, no later than December 15, 2021. The goal is to collect 1,000 cards of heartfelt wishes.
