Ridgewood NJ, Thursday 5/25/2023: Susan, a village resident, approached “B” shift while conducting our daily platoon drill in the Central Business district to say thank you. This was a special moment as this resident was rescued from a second story apartment during a well involved fire back in 2020. Fire Fighter’s McLaughlin, T. Bombace and Rohrman were assigned to Ladder 36 that day and successfully made the rescue. Little did Susan know that Fire Fighter. McLaughlin was in fact working today and we were able to capture that moment. FF. McLaughlin and his fellow firefighters were very appreciative of her kind words and impromptu thanks!
Ridgewood NJ, the adult driver of a late model Chevrolet Trax was injured in an early Friday evening, 04/28 crash involving a tree in the 200 block of Lakeview Drive, Ridgewood. The victim was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Ridgewood EMTs. Ridgewood Police also responded to the incident. A tow truck removed the wrecked subcompact from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, at approximately 3:45 PM today, Wednesday, 12/21 a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of North Van Dien Avenue and Beverly Road, Ridgewood sends an SUV careening completely through attached garage of nearby single family home and into yard of adjacent home leaving 1/2 of garage totaled.
No injuries were reported The SUV involved in the crash was propelled completely through the attached garage of a nearby single family home, across the home’s driveway, through a fence, and into the driveway of a neighboring house. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Damage to the attached garage was extensive. Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with the incident. Ridgewood Fire Department and a Village of Ridgewood building inspector also responded to the scene.
Paramus NJ, a multi-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment snarled morning rush hour traffic at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Grove Street, Paramus on Tuesday, 11/08. One (1) driver was extricated from his vehicle by Ridgewood firefighters and transported, with non-life threatening injuries, to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Paramus EMS ambulance. All other reported injuries were minor in nature and those victims refused medical aid. At least two (2) vehicles were removed from the scene by tow trucks. A Glen Rock Police unmarked SUV sustained minor damage in the mishap.
Ridgewood NJ ,on Thursday September 29th the Ridgewood Fire Department wished firefighter Mike Ferraro a happy healthy retirement! After 35 years in the fire service and 23 of those with Ridgewood , Mike certainly earned this. Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 thanked him for your years of dedicated service .

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) Local 47 hosted their 29th Annual Charity Golf Event at the Preakness Valley Golf Club in Wayne, New Jersey. Proceeds from the event will go to The Ultimate Sacrifice Foundation.

According to the Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 Facebook page , the Ridgewood Fire Department conducted a drill on Saturday 3/26/2022 . “B” Shift conducted ladder operations training using the Ridgewood Board of Education headquarters .

Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday December 23rd the Ridgewood Fire Department made the rounds with Santa . Santa visited all Ridgewood elementary schools. Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 thanked all those who came out for the Santa meet and greet . Santa even walked away with a note hopefully everyone got what they wished for!!!
Ridgewood NJ, no injuries were reported by the adult female driver of a white colored, 4-door Hyundai Sonata sedan that crashed into the side of a multi-family home in the 100 block of Union Street, Ridgewood on Thursday morning, 10/07. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck assisted in removing the vehicle from its impaled position. Despite crash related damage, the vehicle was able to be driven away on its own power. Damage to the home appeared to have been cosmetic in nature only.
Ridgewood NJ, one (1) adult male was apprehended by Ridgewood Police and subsequently taken into custody by NJ Transit Police in connection with an alleged Monday afternoon, 08/02, assault of an on duty, NJ Transit train conductor. The alleged assault took place on a Hoboken bound train, either at or near the Ridgewood station. Both the conductor and alleged assailant were injured. The conductor was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. The alleged actor was treated at the scene before being placed in handcuffs, secured in the back seat of a NJ Transit marked patrol vehicle, and driven away from the train station for processing at an undisclosed location.
Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, at approximately 1223hrs on Thurday June 24th, the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department was alerted to a reported fire in the area of 1 Hollywood Avenue.
Initial reports from Police units confirmed a working fire on the exterior of building 6 at Dale Brook Industrial Park.
Due to these reports, as well as the occupancy type, mutual aid was quickly requested bringing a Ridgewood engine, Waldwick engine and Wyckoff tower ladder to the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, a garbage truck owned and operated by the Village of Ridgewood struck a balcony in a garden apartment complex on Heights Road, Ridgewood on Friday morning, 04/09. No injuries were reported in the mishap and the truck was able to drive away on its own power. However, the balcony was severely damaged and deemed unusable. Firefighters from Ridgewood FD made the scene safe. A Village of Ridgewood construction code official was called to inspect for structural damage. Ridgewood Police also responded.
