A recent social media challenge directed at children and young adults, called the “Momo Challenge”, is creating concern throughout the country….

Letter sent out from Brick township School system on the “Momo Challenge” .

December 11, 2018

Parents and Guardians:
A recent social media challenge directed at children and young adults, called the “Momo Challenge”, is creating concern throughout the country. Brick Township Public Schools is urging parents to become aware of this challenge and monitor their children’s use of social media and the internet. The “Momo Challenge” can be found on Facebook and/or through the “WhatsApp” and is disturbing in nature. The communications through the “Momo Challenge” begin with a chat that asks the receiver to perform small tasks and then escalates to more serious violent acts and request photographs for proof.

The “Momo Challenge” is just one example of dangerous “games” through social media that has a negative impact on students and their social interactions. Here in the schools and for you at home, it continues to be challenging to monitor and address the ever developing and changing topics related to social media. We must consider common sense guidelines, age appropriateness and exposure from older siblings or neighbors.

The Brick Township Public Schools counselors and administrative teams will continue to provide students and parents with information to address this most recent social media and internet concern. Please contact the counselors or administrative team of your student’s school, or go to WeTip.com on the district website with any concerns regarding this topic or any other social media/internet concerns. You can learn more about the “Momo Challenge” by visiting some of the links below. Please be warned that some of the images and stories may be disturbing.

As the holiday season rapidly approaches and children may have more screen time on electronic devices or receive them as gifts, it is an appropriate time to consider family guidelines for appropriate use. We ask that you consider age appropriateness for children’s use of technology, time spent on social media and overall reminders of family expectations for making good choices using their conscience. Below are some links that offer advice.

The Brick Township Public Schools, in cooperation with the Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office will be offering a program in the New Year to further educate our community regarding these social media and internet concerns. The location, date, and time will be published on the District website at: www.brickschools.org.

Watched the public comments on TV. It was a love fest for Loncto. Ok. So the guy served 7 years. He deserves some praise. But oh man, the level of drama about his being VOTED OUT OF OFFICE was sickening. And when you consider the people who were waxing nostalgic about him, well, enough said. SO glad Cris Kaufmann is in office as of January 1. And in the next go round we will have two more new faces. Time to CLEAN HOUSE folks.

I know from personal experience that NJ school districts DO practice nepotism in hiring. I graduated with a Masters degree, GPA 4.0, received Outstanding Student Teacher Award and went on numerous interviews where the interviewer DID NOT EVEN MAKE EYE CONTACT. When I was later told I did not get the job, I always asked for feedback on the interview; what was lacking, what could I have done better? Nine times out of ten they said my credentials and interview answers were excellent but they already had someone in mind for the job. One time a lazy C student I knew from school got the job for which I interviewed. She had a mother, aunt and cousin already working in the district. I was shocked and disillusioned by the whole experience. They couldn’t care less about getting the best for the students.

Readers Point Out the Obvious About Ridgewood and New Jersey Taxes

“With the declining tax base, who is going to pay for all of these excessive salaries and benefits (platinum health care, very generous pension & unused sick leave payouts) negotiated in bad faith by the public sector unions ?”

“States with lower state & local taxes make much more sense for businesses to invest given the SALT deduction limits of $10,000 on their employees hurt them in high tax states like NJ.”

“The average residential property tax in Ridgewood is actually now $18,000 as of 2018/19 tax year… just as state & local tax deductions are limited to $10,000. What are the BOE and Village Council doing to help Ridgewood families keep food on their tables and gas in their cars given higher commuter pass costs, tolls, higher parking permit fees, higher Graydon and tennis pass fees, etc? And where are the vaunted schools & Village services those taxes are paying for ? In the tank.”

Unfortunate that it happened at school. RHS is not responsible, the student is. RHS did not raise this child. I take responsibility for my children. They are wonderful kids and I raised them well. The district educated them as per state guidelines.
Shameful behavior and deserves to be addressed by school in some manner. School will focus on education and the parents should focus on the child’s deviant behavior. Vandalism is a crime and child should be turned over when she is identified.

People used to feel privileged in a humble sort of way. They respected the Village and were thankful to live here. Sadly, to many residents feel they are owed something rather than the other way around.

Reader says , “This is a HUGE embarrassment for Ridgewood taxpayers”

pemerintah telah blokir 800000 website 90 persennya situs porno1

Someone’s head should roll for this major screw up by the BOE’s IT department, but we know from past experience with similar boondoggles by municipal government entities (e.g., the theft of over 3/4 million dollars worth of parking utility revenue), that NO ONE WILL EVEN BE DISCIPLINED, let alone fired.
This is a HUGE embarrassment for Ridgewood taxpayers and the Ridgewood Public School System. Property values are certain to take a hit from this.
Voters should take note of the names of Board members who were on duty when this occurred (Ms. Brogan, Ms. Krauss, Mr. Morgan, and Ms. Smith-Wilson) and vote them out when their respective seats are up for grabs.

The protection is to educate kids like Einstein etc were educated throughout the centuries with books and paper and pencils. Bill Gates is VERY SMART. He knows that people are sheep and stupid. So he made billions. BUT his kids learn like Einstein etc. with books paper and pencils. No chrome where his kids go to school. Ha ha Keep buyin the next computer folks and smart phones and be sure to give them to your kids. Don’t worry. They are not addictive. Bill Gates said so. So did Mark Zuckerberg. Good guys.

.
I work on computers every day for most of the day and also spend the usual computer/device time when not working.
I DO NOT get pornographic pop-ups.

If you are getting pornographic pop-ups it is because you have been visiting pornographic websites.
