New definition of arrogance – Ridgewood Board of Education members

BOE

by the staff of The Ridgewood Blog

Ridgewood NJ, Giving new meaning to the height of arrogance –

No mention of this November’s Board of Education election was ever noted on the Board’s official website. That’s right fellow taxpayers, the election was never referenced by the Board, at all.

No notice of election date was posted, no candidate bios were posted, no “please vote” message was posted, no election results were posted. NOTHING AT ALL.

What a bunch of arrogant morons the Board has become.

Our advice – VOTE THE BUMS OUT WHEN THE TIME COMES.

Reader says , ” Just add water, and–Poof! Instant enemies “

mister-rogers-trolley

Kaufman is clearly normal, in that, he’s not interested in becoming enemies with anyone. But that doesn’t mean he will not start bumping into people in his new role as a member of the district’s board who already have ill will toward him because they are naked partisans or perceive him as a threat to their particular fiefdom. Just add water, and–Poof! Instant enemies.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Education Association put out a short statement on their Facebook page saying they were, “Puzzled today by the BOE statement regarding negotiations. Ridgewood Education Association : Board of Education no longer in agreement with the contract settlement

Ridgewood Teachers

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Education Association , “Last week we were notified by the Board of Education that they are no longer in agreement with the contract settlement negotiated with the assistance of a state appointed mediator on Oct. 9. The issue pertains to the new salary guides that by agreement must be agreed upon by both parties. We submitted guide proposals to the Board on Oct. 10 and they waited almost three weeks to tell us they found them unacceptable and that they have a misunderstanding as to what the settlement actually means. Upon first learning this on Oct. 30 we informed the Board how we interpret the settlement and met again with the Board’s negotiating team on Friday to reiterate that point. Tonight the Board has indicated they need even more time to approve the settlement. We find this unacceptable and as such we find ourselves back at an impasse and potentially back at the negotiating table. Ridgewood’s teachers and secretaries have now been working for 128 days under an expired contract. Email Board President Vince Loncto at [email protected] and tell him to honor the agreement and settle now! “

On back to school night the RHS principal boasted that he has been all over the world and has never met the quality of education that RHS provides. I couldn’t believe my ears. I whispered to my wife “This guy is full of himself. We’re doomed”. Right there you have the answer for the RHS ranking woes. If right now we’re ranked 38th in NJ I bet next year we will fall below 50.
There are some teachers at RHS who are trying to reinvent the wheel with their teaching methods and basically just pose a problem to class without even giving lessons on it. So kids have to figure out where to find the info and study it by themselves. Teachers are not teaching and then we have to fork out $$$ for tutors. They are confusing and stressing these kids out with their “innovative” ways.
There are a lot of other teachers who really enjoy their work and are dedicated and I respect them. But I have a terrible feeling for the future when I think of where we are now and what will happen when the large buildings pop out across town.
I never thought I would consider moving but now it is seriously in my radar however painful it can be.

Vincent Loncto Comments on the Upcoming Election

RGW18 Photo 1

Tomorrow is Election Day and I hope you will exercise our greatest right  and vote.

In Ridgewood, we vote for one open seat on the Board of Education.  I am  seeking re-election to continue the work I began seven years ago.

With your vote tomorrow, I will work every day to keep our schools among  the best in the state and the country.  If re-elected, each decision I  will make will be the best for all students of the district and our
schools.  I will continue to respect the integrity of our educators and  educational product.  And I will always remember the taxpayer.

The Ridgewood Blog Endorses Cristopher Kaufman for Board of Education

Ridgewood NJ, in April a reader aptly described the current situation in the Ridgewood School system ( https://theridgewoodblog.net/reader-suggest-its-time-for-new-leadership-at-ridgewood-schools/ )

“Ultimately Fishbein and Gorman are responsible. Their hefty salaries are funded by the taxpayers. If the rankings don’t improve in 2-3 years, then these two losers get FIRED. It’s that simple, folks.
What part of the budget (none?) is going towards improving the actual ACADEMIC QUALITY of Ridgewood schools?

Reader says , ” There are still some dedicated teachers in the system but more often than not, tenure destroys motivation”

tradition of excellence

There are still some dedicated teachers in the system but more often than not, tenure destroys motivation. Ridgewood teachers are very, very lucky. They receive top teaching salaries and for the most part their students do receive support from homes where education is prized. The NJEA and its demands will continue to bankrupt the state. Nurses do not earn as much as teachers nor do they enjoy the same benefits packages. That is not to say that effective, caring teaching is not an extremely demanding job but all the complaints about their salaries/benefits are hard to entertain. Personally, I think those who teach in less desirable districts should be the high earners. That is where you find the dedication and what used to motivate those entering the profession – hoping to make a difference and inspire learning.
