Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel responded to a single vehicle, Sunday afternoon, 02/28, crash at the underpass complex of NJ Transit’s Bergen/Main Line railroad. Both occupants of the crashed vehicle refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage. Ridgewood Fire Department, personnel attended to a crash related fluid spill, and also secured loose wiring associated with a damaged street lamp. From the photos its does appear the car may have been going the wrong way. No word on what caused the crash, nor whether any summonses were issued in connection with the mishap.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today, alongside NJ TRANSIT Board Chair and Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin Corbett, Amtrak President Stephen Gardner, Federal Railroad Administrator Ron Batory, and Parsons Corporation’s Terry Fetters, announced that NJ TRANSIT’s Positive Train Control (PTC) system has been certified by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) as meeting the December 31, 2020 deadline for implementation. This major accomplishment comes after nearly three years of around the clock work, first to meet the interim milestone for equipment and infrastructure installation at the end of 2018, and then to achieve this certification for full implementation. When Governor Murphy took office in January of 2018, the project was at just 12% completion toward the 2018 interim goal for equipment and infrastructure installation.
Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT will resume rail service the morning of Thursday, December 17, operating on a Severe Weather Level 2 service schedule. Also, all bus, light rail and Access Link services will resume operating on a weekday schedule. We continue to urge customers to reserve travel for essential purposes only.

Rail service will run on a Level 2 Severe Weather Schedule due to the predicted severe winter storm starting tomorrow. Ridgewood NJ, Rutgers University in partnership with NJ TRANSIT has been selected for a grant award by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for its Safety Research and Demonstration Program. Rutgers University in cooperation with NJ TRANSIT received $357,000 to study pedestrian detection, one of ten grants awarded throughout the country.
