Ridgewood NJ, upgrades and enhancements to the RHS Makerspace Lab are underway through the Duffield STEAM Initiative. New industry-standard equipment will significantly elevate the student experience, preparing them for college and career. The first of a host of new tools arrived last week — the massive Mimaki UV-LED Printer/Cutter. Unlike any piece of equipment currently in the lab, the Mimaki printer/cutter will expand design and production capabilities exponentially. RHS Alumni Association Treasurer, Steve Correll, and Alumni Trustees, Mark Kossick and Amy Ebenstein, were among the first to see this multi-functional machine shortly after it was delivered and learned about some of its impressive capabilities from RHS faculty.

This award acknowledges 1,119 schools for their work toward equal gender representation during the 2019-20 school year—nearly 37% more than the 818 schools recognized the previous year. Ridgewood High School is is one of only 831 schools to be recognized for achieving this important result in CSP.

The future of the video app Tiktok in the US seems to be secured after President Donald Trump approved a deal between the Chinese owner Bytedance and US companies. Tiktok’s global business will be transferred to a new company based in the US, “probably in Texas,” Trump said. The Department of Commerce postponed the download stop for the App in the USA, which should take effect for users starting Monday, by one week. 4besnews Trump had called Tiktok a security risk, because the App belongs to the Chinese Bytedance company. In his view, Chinese authorities could have used the app to obtain data from Americans. Following this reasoning, he laid the foundation for the removal of the app in the USA with two orders. According to the deal that has now been finalized, the software company Oracle is to process all data of US users and take care of the corresponding technical systems. Sorry to all the grand parents who over the years have spent snow days with their grand children but thirty-nine percent of principals and district leaders say their district has converted snow days to remote learning days, and another 32 percent say their districts are considering the change, according to an EdWeek Research Center survey conducted earlier this month.
