Ridgefield Park NJ, the remains of Steven Fernandez, a Ridgefield Park police officer, are escorted down Route 17 in Ridgewood on Tuesday afternoon, 02/04, en route to a funeral home in Ridgefield Park.  Officer Fernandez died on Saturday, 02/01, as a result of injuries he sustained in a tragic snowmobile accident that took place near Saranac Lake, New York. Firefighters and police officers from Ridgewood, along with paramedics and EMTs from The Valley Hospital, stood at attention on the shoulder of Route 17 as the three (3) minute long funeral procession passed.

Paramus NJ, a major multi-vehicle collision late Monday morning at the intersection of Paramus Road and Red Mill Road in Paramus required four ambulances to transport injured victims to local hospitals. The crash, which occurred around 11 a.m., also temporarily shut down Paramus Road in both directions as authorities worked to clear the scene.

Glen Rock NJ, late Sunday evening, January 5, firefighters in Glen Rock demonstrated heroic efforts, rescuing an unconscious individual from a burning single-family home on Birchwood Road. The victim, unresponsive upon being carried out of the smoke-filled residence, was given CPR at the scene before being rushed to The Valley Hospital by ambulance.

The crash occurred near the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood.

Ridgewood NJ, one of our staff members just checked this out. The trees that have been removed are along the sidewalk on the North Van Dien Avenue side of the hospital, from Kurth Cottage north to the driveway entrance of Ben Franklin Middle School. It looks like there could have been 35 to 40 trees; they were relatively small, ornamental trees based on size of the stumps left behind.

Glen Rock NJ, on Halloween evening, a male employee at Bottle King, located at 909 Prospect Street in Glen Rock, sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury while attempting to stop a shoplifter in the store’s parking lot. The incident occurred as the employee chased after the suspect, who had fled the store, and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Ridgewood NJ, a Tuesday morning crash on Route 4 eastbound in Paramus resulted in a large, illuminated building sign being demolished. The accident involved a white Tesla and a dark grey Toyota RAV4 owned by The Valley Hospital. While the Tesla suffered significant front-end damage, the Toyota escaped with only a minor dent on its rear bumper.
