Newark NJ, on Wednesday March 16th the US Senate Voted to end airline mask mandates. The proper policy is let each airline decide for itself whether it wants to require passengers to wear masks. Then flyers can choose for themselves whether they want to book flights on planes that either do or don’t require masks  The market works. That is how Senator Rand Paul sees it as well. He brought an amendment to the floor yesterday ending federal masks requirements on planes. It passed 57-40.

Newark NJ, Multiple major US airlines announced yesterday that passengers will be required to wear face masks onboard commercial aircraft starting in May. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not mandated mask use for airline passengers or crew, but the airlines themselves made the determination in response to pressure from employees and unions. Several airlines had previously announced face mask policies, but AmericanDelta, and United Airlines all announced policies yesterday. These represent 3 of the 4 largest airlines in the United States; the second-largest airline, Southwest Airlines, has reportedly not yet announced a mandatory mask use policy.

Secretary Pompeo emphasized that the US government remains committed to repatriating US citizens during this crisis. However, the continued operation of international commercial air service remains uncertain, and the US government cannot guarantee that it will be able to coordinate charter flights in the future. The United States has repatriated 27,572 Americans from nearly 60 countries since the end of January.
