Despite NJ July Job Gains State is still nearly 275,000 jobs shy of the February 2020 peak

Trenton NJ,  Preliminary estimates produced by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that total nonfarm wage and salary employment in New Jersey increased in July by 14,600, to reach a seasonally adjusted level of 3,954,100. This marks the seventh consecutive month of gains in the state’s total nonfarm job level.

Ridgewood NJ, according to the US Census Bureau  the COVID-19 pandemic caused a record job losses and transformed the nation’s employment landscape but recently released historical data tables put the magnitude of the economic disruption in clear context.

To get some prospective in 2017, for example, roughly 30 million adults experienced either an end of employment or a reduction in work hours, including both involuntary and voluntary job terminations. But only about 3.8 million collected Unemployment Insurance (UI), which is contingent on involuntary job termination, according to the Census Bureau’s Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).

Ridgewood NJ, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warned of threat actors sending phishing emails and text messages purporting to be from state workforce agency (SWA) websites. These emails contain links that, if clicked, direct users to spoofed unemployment benefit websites requesting users to enter personally identifiable information (PII) or other sensitive information. This data can be used to apply for unemployment benefits and/or commit identity theft.
