  1. will the business owners contribute to the cost of building it ? why should tax payers be on the hook 100% ? How about a public private partnership (PPP) that would help the Village in its oversight of project and funding costs ?

  2. Very poor location for a parking deck/garage. Too crowded getting in now and almost impossible getting out now getting out at busy times. Add a deck? Ridiculous.

    What is the council thinking?

  3. It’s quite apparent that the landowners will benefit from this scheme., especially those who have properties near Hudson. At no cost to them a parking structure will be built. When revenues fall short, the residential taxpayers will be on the hook.

  4. Hey everybody…
    Simple solution..
We all get to vote on it in November.

    Vote no.
    I doubt it will pass.

    No cost to the taxpayer?
We just took out a half million bond to “study” this.

Will take 20 years to pay off the possibly 15 mil. bond to build it.

  5. The council won’t pay attention to the nonbinding referendum.. They will just say not enough people voted. They will say the silent majority wants the parking garage on Hudson St.

  6. If the chamber is positive that the garage won’t cost taxpayers a penny, then let them guarantee any shortfalls.

  7. I think the ultimate goal with this garage is not really to “expand” Ridgewood’s parking footprint, but to consolidate it. Much of the argument against this multi-story garage has been from those who say there isn’t the demand for all this extra parking space. This, I agree with. Ridgewood currently has multiple parking lots, all of which take up a very large space, space that is valuable to developers. The logic, therefore, is to build this garage and then space will free up at the traditional lots, making it possible to sell some of that space.

  8. Why the need for a “push”?
    This is a done deal.

  9. large Muni Parking Decks are a blight to those nearby properties and block mostly all winter afternoon sunlight crucial to a healthy neighborhood. no less exhaust hazard due to idling cars exiting narrow ramps and cashier ramp lines. Across from an Historic Church all for an expensive Mistake. Congestion. Count on it.

  10. How many times will I be allowed to vote?

  11. Where do the Concerned Citizens for RIdgewood weigh in on this????

  12. Regular residents only vote ones. Friends of the 3 amigos get to vote 3 times.

  13. Yes, of course friends of the 3 get to vote often. Why start following the rules now?

  14. I disagree with those of you who suggest there is not a need for some additional parking. I think to grow and thrive some more parking would make the village more accessible. Where I agree with everyone is the size and scope. Do we need that many spaces, at that cost, in that location? no, no, no Do we want 300+ cars turning into and out of that location? no

Just as with multi-family housing this is an over-reach and I will vote no.

  15. The downtown property owners and tenants should be assessed an “Downtown Improvement District” charge to cover signage, seasonal events, added Village services and to offset the cost of capital improvements such as the proposed Hudson Street garage. Those services directly benefit the business owners and the cost should be borne by the business owners. This is what is done in Fort Lee and other New Jersey towns with major shopping districts.

  16. And, by the way. The Tres Amigos don’t want a five story garage, they want a three story garage. Much like Valley Hospital didn’t want two million square feet, they wanted one million square feet. It’s as old as the hills this negotiating tactic.
