Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Schools to Delay Survey on ,”Alternative Schedules Initiative”. The Ridgewood Board of Education felt it need more time to educate the Ridgewood School community on the benefits and the challenges of changing the start times for the Ridgewood School district.
Ridgewood Public Schools is exploring the district’s organization of instructional time with the goal of advancing the vision and mission. An Alternative Schedules Task Force consisting of administrators, teachers, parents, and Board Trustees has been collaborating and conducting an in-depth examination of new start and end times for PreK-12, which will have a districtwide impact for all students and their families. The Alternative Schedules Initiative Community Presentation is an opportunity for parents and community members to learn more about this initiative and next steps in the process.

Dear Ridgewood Public Schools Community,
At the December 6 Board of Education meeting, the Alternative Schedules Initiative was discussed, and the Board of Education requested that we further educate the community about all aspects of this topic and continue to vet the preliminary survey questions. Based on input from the Board of Education that community members would like more detailed information, the survey will not be administered this week as originally planned and will be conducted at a later date.
We acknowledge that postponing the survey will delay the process of exploring potential schedule changes, but due to the magnitude of this important districtwide issue, it is essential that the entire community understands both the benefits and the challenges in order to provide informed feedback.
We will keep the community informed about next steps in this process.
Respectfully,
Dr. Thomas A. Gorman, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
