Ridgewood NJ, The Village of Ridgewood is seeking a Superintendent for its municipally-owned Sewage Treatment Plant. Qualified individual must have current NJDEP C-3 and S-3 or higher licenses.  Strong leadership skills required, as well as at least 10 years’ experience in treatment plant maintenance/repair/upkeep/operation for a 5 MG permitted plant with a liquid waste acceptance program.

Just a few days ago, a United Van Lines study found that, for the second consecutive year, more residents moved out of New Jersey than any other state in America. And just today, an analysis of Internal Revenue Service data  by the NJBIA confirmed that outmigration cost New Jersey billions of tax dollars in 2017-2018.

Twelve public schools now piloting LGBTQ-curriculum developed by Garden State Equality

Ridgewood N J, Garden State Equality launched its LGBTQ-Inclusive Curriculum pilot program in twelve New Jersey public schools, utilizing lesson plans developed and written by Garden State Equality in partnership with Make It Better for Youth. The pilot program will continue until the end of the current school year; New Jersey’s law will go into effect statewide this fall for the 2020-2021 school year.

The U.S-Iran ‘Maximum Pressure’ Campaign: A new proxy war in the Middle East?

The United States has hurled its first airstrikes in nearly a decade against Iran-backed militia forces in Iraq and Syria.  Cloaked under the umbrella of a ‘maximum pressure’ campaign, whereby draconian U.S economic sanctions compel Iran to more worthwhile enterprises at the table of negotiations, it now seems evident, that, this ‘political betrothal’ is now steering the US into a new proxy war in the Middle East.

Although the   U.S remains equivocal about whether the ultimate goal of its ‘maximum pressure’ campaign is to force a regime change in Iran, a modification in Iran’s behavior, or even to claim influence for Iraq as an objective, Iran’s responses are causes for concern.

Ridgewood NJ, Work continuing at Chestnut Village. Dense element continues. Roofing continues. Getting our new retaining wall installed. When done the wall will be stained to blend more naturally. Wedding the vibration absorbing hvac mounts to the structure. Ridgewood Fire Department has been touring the building and checking out our construction techniques and the non flammability of the project. They also are familiarizing themselves with the layout and construction. We can appreciate their diligence and dedication to the safety of our workers and also our residents to come. Our switch gears are being installed for the electric as well.

Bridge and Tunnel Toll Hikes As Promised Starting Sunday 3 am January 5th

Fort Lee NJ, Previously approved toll increase on agency bridges and tunnels to take effect at 3 a.m. Sunday, January 5.

Effective at 3 a.m. Sunday, January 5, the bridge and tunnel cash and toll by mail rate for cars during all hours will increase from $15 to $16. The E-ZPass peak discount for cars will be reduced from $2.50 to $2.25 and the E-ZPass off-peak discount will be reduced from $4.50 to $4.25. The New York/New Jersey Staten Island Bridges Discount Plan, which allows for toll discounts on the three Port Authority bridges that connect New Jersey with Staten Island and is available to any E-ZPass account holder, will not change. The discount provides for a toll of $6.88. The Carpool Discount for the three trans-Hudson crossings – the George Washington Bridge and the Lincoln and Holland tunnels – will continue until those crossings migrate to cashless tolling operations.

Lanes will be closed this weekend and/or next week at the Goethals Bridge, George Washington Bridge and Holland Tunnel for ongoing construction and repair projects.

Radon is a serious health risk. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer — and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. But because radon is invisible and odorless it is easy to ignore this potential hazard in our own homes.

Its Not a Parking Problem in the Village It’s a Traffic Congestion Problem

Ridgewood NJ, on the Facebook page ,”It takes a Ridgewood Village “Steve Kim points out what the Ridgewood blog has continued to point out to no avail for so many years ,more pressing than parking is the problem with traffic congestion in the Village of Ridgewood.  The problem has been so ignored that the Village has over the years exacerbated the situation with so called “traffic easing” ie turn 2 lanes into one under the trestle and install a suicide bike lane  .  Place “valet” parking eating up street parking and of coarse approving massive high density housing in the central business district .
