Mahwah NJ,  Ramapo College of New Jersey, the State’s public liberal arts college, today launched the Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center (IGG Center), the first Center of its kind to offer case work, research, and hands-on education in investigative genetic genealogy. The vision of the innovative new Center is to secure justice through the ethical and proficient use of investigative genetic genealogy to support the resolution of cases involving wrongful convictions, unidentified human remains, and violent crime. The first class of students in the Center’s IGG Certificate Program will enroll in the Spring of 2023.

Ridgewood Police Interrupt Deer Date

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Michael Karcher was dispatched to the Hopper Ridge Condominium property at approximately Noon on Tuesday, 11/22, in response to a resident’s telephone call reporting a doe trapped in a retention pond area. Assisted by an employee of Tyco Animal Control, Officer Karcher determined that the doe was not trapped, but was hiding in the area due to the presence of a large buck nearby. The doe was able to successfully escape from the area shortly thereafter, with the buck in chase.

Most of us would agree that a little ‘retail therapy’ at the end of a hard day lifts our mood, albeit temporarily. Paramus NJ, a multi-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment snarled morning rush hour traffic at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Grove Street, Paramus on Tuesday, 11/08. One (1) driver was extricated from his vehicle by Ridgewood firefighters and transported, with non-life threatening injuries, to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Paramus EMS ambulance. All other reported injuries were minor in nature and those victims refused medical aid. At least two (2) vehicles were removed from the scene by tow trucks. A Glen Rock Police unmarked SUV sustained minor damage in the mishap.

Westwood NJ, the Mayor of Westwood Ray Arroyo spoke at length in a Facebook post on the impact of the NJDEP Blue Acres Program on the tax base of the municipality .
The NJDEP Blue Acres Program (within the Green Acres Program) purchases improved residential lots in flood prone areas in cooperation with FEMA and once acquired, removes the structures and improvements from the floodplain.   The project area for surveys may include lands that have already closed or are under contract pending closing.
