Fair Lawn NJ, Firefighters from Fair Lawn Fire Company #2 responded with their ladder truck to the Fair Lawn DPW complex on Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn on Thursday morning, 10/20, to rescue three (3) cell phone tower technicians who became trapped in a malfunctioning aerial lift. Hackensack NJ, on 10/15/2022 at 2346 hours Deputy 3, Engine 4 and Rescue 1 of the City of Hackensack Fire Department were dispatched to a report of vehicle struck by passenger train at the Central Avenue crossing. Deputy 3 arrived on scene and confirmed victim was heavily entrapped. Firefighters from Rescue 1 and Engine 4 worked for approximately 30 minutes stretching a dry line to protect rescue operations and removing the roof of the vehicle. Engine 1 was dispatched to assist and one victim was extricated and turned over to ALS and BLS for treatment and transport to HUMC. N.J. Transit police are investigating.

Upper Saddle River NJ, this past Wednesday night, Patrolman Timothy Erstling was honored with the meritorious service award at the J. Fletcher Creamer Sr. Valor Awards Dinner hosted by The 200 Club of Bergen County. In February of 2022, Officer Erstling rescued a victim of a motor vehicle accident who was trapped in his burning vehicle after it crashed.

Mahwah NJ, a collision involving a rolled over dump truck reeked havoc for drivers on Route 287 northbound in Mahwah on Wednesday morning, 10/05. Mahwah firefighters were dispatched to the incident based on reports that the truck’s driver was entrapped in the vehicle. Basic and advanced EMS support was also dispatched to the scene. Motor vehicle traffic northbound near milepost 64.0 was restricted to one (1) lane while NJ State Police investigated the crash. No information was readily available regarding the extent of injuries sustained by the driver.

Mahwah NJ, a multiple vehicle crash involving a flipped over roll-off container truck and an entrapment forced the temporary closure of Route 287 northbound near mile marker 64 in Mahwah on Monday morning, 08/22. Mahwah Fire Department, was assisted by Franklin Lakes Fire Department, and a Ramsey EMS ambulance was also observed at the scene. At least one (1) victim with a life threatening traumatic injury was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. No information was available regarding the condition of other victims, if there were any.

Rochelle Park NJ, Rochelle Park Fire Department and Maywood Fire Department required the use of hydraulic extrication tools to free an individual who was entrapped inside of a Mazda SUV that had flipped on its side after hitting a tree in the 300 block of West Passaic Street, Rochelle Park on Tuesday morning, 07/19. BLS and ALS personnel from Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) aided the victim on scene before ambulance transport to HUMC’s main campus. Rochelle Park Police provided traffic control at the scene and investigated the single vehicle crash. The heavily damaged vehicle was righted by a hydraulic lift tow truck prior to its removal from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Rutherford NJ, a 17 years old Bergen County teen driver died after striking a telephone pole and caught fire on Friday. According to Rutherford Police Chief John Russo who told Patch the vehicle, a two-door BMW Sedan, was traveling westbound on Marginal Road between Lincoln Avenue and Wheaton Place at 3 p.m.
