Ridgewood NJ, The Federal Highway Administration approved the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plan to add a controversial toll (congestion pricing) around Manhattan’s central business district. A group of Congress members from New Jersey both Democrats and Republicans – called on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to cancel the plan, saying that it will “impose significant new costs” on New Jersey commuters and families. The signees included Reps. Thomas Kean Jr., Frank Pallone Jr., Bill Pascrell Jr., Donald Payne Jr., Mikie Sherrill, Jeff Van Drew and Bonnie Watson Coleman.

Going Beyond the Cellphone for Travel Photos

Ridgewood NJ, People say, “It’s not the camera that takes good photos, it’s the photographer”, and this is completely true. Yet there’s a reason professionals use expensive gear – they are better for the job.  However that doesn’t mean you need to go out and spend $10k on a set-up! Definitely not. Many of my clients express an interest in going beyond the cellphone for travel photos, but don’t want to be a professional, so here are a few suggestions for you.  Note:  Take cameras with you as carry on and remove the batteries as well.  I made the mistake in the past checking my gear in and they removed my batteries. I ended up paying a fortune to replace the batteries – ugh.

Tesla Hits Home in New Milford

New Milford NJ, Tuesday at 5:38pm City of Hackensack Fire Department received a mutual aid request from New Milford Fire Department for an occupied vehicle that crashed into a structure with entrapment at 495 River Road. Hackensack Deputy 1, Safety Chief, UASI Special Operations, Hackensack Shoring Unit and Hackensack Rescue 1 responded. Upon arrival units assisted New Milford Firefighters with extracting one victim from the vehicle. At 6:07 Deputy 1 reported victim was placed in the care of BLS for treatment and transport to local hospital. City of Hackensack units remained on scene to assist with shoring up the damaged area of the structure so the vehicle can be safely removed.

Ridgewood High School AP Environmental Science students Test their own vehicles for Carbon Dioxide and Air Particulate Matter Emissions

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School  AP Environmental Science students tested their own vehicles for carbon dioxide and air particulate matter emissions by using filter paper and bromothymol blue indicator solution. Although they found that many factors contribute to the end results, they found that newer technologies and modern emissions regulations have helped newer cars emit less carbon than older cars.

Hackensack and Hasbrouck Heights Fire Fighters Offer Mutual Aid on Little Ferry House Fire

Little Ferry NJ, on Saturday Hasbrouck Height Fire Department, City of Hackensack Fire Department gave mutual aid to Little Ferry Fire Department at a single family home fire . At 11:15am City Hackensack Fire Department Ladder 1 and Deputy 1 responded to 37 Woodland Ave Little Ferry on mutual aid house fire. Hasbrouck Heights responded with Chief 60, Chief 62, and Ladder 1  as a fast team.

T-Bone Crash In Allendale Sends Driver Hospital

Allendale NJ, a late Monday afternoon, 02/27, two (2) vehicle, “T-Bone” crash at the intersection of Cottage Place and East Allendale Avenue in Allendale, entrapped the driver of a silver colored Nissan SUV, and sent the vehicle up onto the front lawn of a nearby home. Allendale firefighters and Ramsey Rescue personnel extricated the victim, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles involved in the collision were towed from the scene. Ramsey firefighters also provided assistance. Allendale Police investigated the crash.

Spring 2023 New Jersey Film Festival Preview

New Brunswick NJ, the 41st Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival will take place on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between January 27-February 19, 2023. The Festival will be a hybrid one as they will be presenting it online as well as doing in-person screenings at Rutgers University. All the films will be available virtually via Video on Demand for 24 hours on their show date. Two Car Collison at the Intersection of Essex Street and State Street in Hackensack Sends Occupants to Hackensack University Medical Center

Hackensack NJ, at approximately 2:25pm City of Hackensack Fire Department Engine 4, Rescue 1 and Deputy 1 responded to the intersection of Essex Street and State Street on reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment. On arrival they found a two car motor vehicle accident with two people still in one vehicle. Rescue 1 began setting up extrication equipment and Engine 4 stretched a precautionary hand line. Both occupants inside the vehicle were able to self evacuate. The occupants were transported to HUMC with non life threatening injuries. Rescue 1 and Engine 4 remained on scene and applied absorbent to minor fluid spill. On duty city tow removed both vehicles. This intersection has been the scene of a series of mishaps over the years with residents saying there needs to be a left turn light Essex Street and State Street.
