Hold on to your wallets!! Another 5%+ prop tax Increase! How does Wyckoff do it, taxes are a fraction of The village called Brogan’s world! Compare two houses, in both towns similar size of course Wyckoff has more property. Property taxes will be 40% less wake up people!
according to this site ( https://joeshimkus.com/NJ-Tax-Rates-Bergen-County.aspx ) the average tax bill in Ridgewood is $19,195 on an average valuation of $1.02 million. In Wyckoff it’s $14,756 on an average value of $885,195. If you extrapolate and raise the average home value of Wyckoff to equal Ridgewood it is still lower but not anywhere near 40%. Without getting into the minutiae of the budget, one large difference looking at the 2022 Village budget would be Ridgewood having a paid fire department with 2022 personnel costs of $8.5 million where Wyckoff and almost any other town have volunteer departments. Not blaming or proposing a change-just pointing out it is a cost.
A little education for folks who are randomly throwing out figures without any clue what they’re talking about…
There is no need to “extrapolate” anything!
Property is taxed based on a “mill rate”. Here are the rates for Bergen County:
https://www.co.bergen.nj.us/images/County_Officials/Boards__Commissions/Board_of_Taxation/Tax_Rate/2022/2022-tax-rates.pdf
As you can very clearly see (if you had taken the time to do 30 seconds of research), Ridgewood is 2.7 vs. Wyckoff at 1.8).
This is your answer. No extrapolation or financial modeling is required.
Of course, you would need to control for housing prices to which these rates are *applied*. And, that’s a separate conversation…
Does anyone know what Reallocation of W. Glen sidewalks means?
Are they taking away the money slated for sidewalks??
This project needs to be completed.
it means the Village is not going to add sidewalks
w glen needs sidewalks – at least on one side
Monroe between Fairmont and Morningside does as well, and on Mrningside from Monroe to Glen; many kids go from Willard area up to Park Wood
We’ve said it before and we will say it again, this council with this Mayor and the merry band of misfits (Except Lorraine) will bankrupt this Village. Decisions are based on their agenda and not ours. It is only a matter of time before people start leaving in droves. I hear that all over town.
…but they DO NOT CARE.
They do not HAVE to care,
because they KNOW they WILL be reelected
because we are
RICH and STUPID
Pee Wee’s Playhouse meets again…
Even if it is eventually possible to “Recall Paul”, you’ve gotta also rid the town of the diabolical twins, Evan and Siobahn. If they were all removed, Pam might be a kinder, gentler councilperson.
I think the concern here is people, that the village doesn’t have any emergency funds. The village should have at least 3 to 5,000,000. I’m up Lampman, this mayor and council, but all of them. This is extremely dangerous not to have any emergency fund. They are spending All the tax money that comes in. And there’s no money button to Village owned buildings.
1-the old taxi stand on Broad Street a disgrace
2-village, recycling, parks, shade tree, building needs repair
3-village water pollution in Glenrock. Main building needs repair.
4-village water department in Midlandpark. He needs major repair.
5-village water department on Glenn Avenue. Main building needs upgrades.
6-Village Fleet service/street department upstairs building needs repairs
7-main fuel tanks at the Village Fleet. Service site needs to be replaced.
8-other buildings on that site are beyond repair, and one is infested with rodents.
Fellow residents taxpayers we are talking millions of dollars, the village let all the sites run right down to the ground. He don’t believe us call take a look for yourself to take some pictures extremely embarrassing for the village. Someone better come up with some kind of a plan because these locations are just crumbling.
Cat out of the bag . . . Council wants to buy 510 W. Saddle River Rd, a large property adjacent to Schedler, likely for a parking lot for the Schedler Stadium. That’s presumably the “property acquisition” the Council will be discussing in closed session.
So very true. It’s a big mess.
Please explain how photo of red car relates to story?
car is parked on West Glen, you need to get out more
It’s a photo of a house without sidewalks on West Glen Ave.
Old news ,the story in the secret book. In village hall is they would love to buy all the property in that section from 17 to W. Saddle River Rd. to race track Road .that’s been on the table a long time. people what do you think this mayor and council came up with this. We told you that they have a boy book and they’re not sharing it with you didn’t I tell you a few years ago there’s so much more to come out, well, this is part of it, this is nothing . it’s just something.
What’s all the urgency about sidewalks on W. Glen all of a sudden ? It’s nothing new. Give me a break.
There have never been sidewalks on W. Glen. How about ticketing the bad drivers and speeders??
