Village of Ridgewood Celebrates Earth Day by Repurposing Dining Corrals

Ridgewood NJ, Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.

After a vigorous debate over continued us of out door dinning corals ,the Village of Ridgewood celebrated Earth Day by repurposing them using them as a wall for the Village road salt shack.

Ridgewood Village Council Extends Dining Corrals until Dec. 31, 2021

Ridgewood NJ, the Village council has voted to extend the use of dining corrals until Dec. 31, 2021. Business owners have to pay $250 per parking space they are taking up per month.

“Dining corrals” become even more hazardous for drivers

Ridgewood NJ, UPDATE:  The Ridgewood Blog has learned that since these photos were taken, small red reflectors have been installed on some of the blocks. Despite this installation, we believe that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of drivers who will be passing by these large obstacles

UPDATE : “Dining corrals” now in place on East Ridgewood Avenue

Ridgewood NJ, UPDATE:  The Ridgewood Blog has learned that since these photos were taken, small red reflectors have been installed on some of the blocks. Despite this installation, we believe that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of drivers who will be passing and parking by these large obstacles.
In case you didn’t notice, several “dining corrals” are now in place on busy East Ridgewood Avenue.

UPDATE: Village Council will allow dining “corrals” to remain in place at least through October 31

As a result of feedback received from several restaurant owners, Village Council members agreed on Wednesday evening to permit Dining “corrals” to remain in place on several side streets in the Village’s Central Business District until at least October 31.

Village gives restaurant owners free pass on $16k in fees for street located dining “corrals”

Ridgewood NJ, he Village Council’s Wednesday night decision not to back bill restaurant owners for lost parking revenue in connection with street located dining “corrals” will result in a revenue loss of $16,000 to Ridgewood taxpayers.
