Hackers claim to have breached hundreds of millions of Apple accounts

Apple’s iPhones and Apple IDs are a tough nut to crack for hackers, but it’s not be impossible. At least that’s what a group of hackers seem to suggest, as they’re currently attempting to blackmail Apple for up to $100,000 before they start remotely wiping millions of iPhones. Can they actually do it? Should you be worried? It’s unclear at this point.

The hackers apparently engaged in conversations with the media to force Apple’s hand. The Turkish Crime Family hacker group, which spoke to Motherboard, want either $75,000 in Bitcoin or Ethereum, or $100,000 worth of iTunes gift cards.

“I just want my money and thought this would be an interesting report that a lot of Apple customers would be interested in reading and hearing,” one of the hackers said.

Apparently, the hackers have been in contact with Apple’s security team for quite a while now. They even posted a video on YouTube to prove they have actual access to iCloud accounts, access which can be used to remotely wipe iPhones.

Reader implies Borgart and Cambridge Parking Issue is More About Personalities

Go visit the street. It’s a known safety issue. This issue has been created by one lady who doesn’t like the person who asked for the ordinance. It’s just kind of funny because everyone in the neighborhood knows that is the deal.
Hey. As long as the one lady gets vengeance who cares if kids are in danger right??
Some of the rest of us in this neighborhood are able to see the actual danger and would like the nonsense to stop.
Not every street in town is the same. Parking can’t be uniform throughout the village.
When something dangerous rears its head it needs to have a venue to be addressed. Won’t Betty rubble coming out of the woodwork to create a dramatic situation.

Reader says We need to change with the times in Ridgewood , No more door knockers

The door knockers of today aren’t the Fuller brush salesman or Avon lady of friendly days past that everbody knew who they were and trusted. Instead, times of today unleash an array of strangers we don’t know, some are from commercial named companies marketing door to door with seasonal help, to get your business for window replacements, lawn pesticides, house pesticides, home improvements, painters, driveway sealers, and much more. Some may not be known companies, and may just be drive thru’s looking to pick up a buck or scam you. Some ring the bell, then bang away on the door! We all read plenty of those scam artists warnings.

..We get plenty of mail marketing that advertises almost everything a homeowner might need. Easy access to online has made it more convenient to choose companies and request estimates by appointment and its sensible. We need to change with the times. No more door knockers.

Fireworks Erupt at Ridgewood Village Council Meeting Over Bogert and Cambridge Parking

Ridgewood NJ, as public comment broke up at tonight’s council meeting all but 3 Bogert Cambridge residents actually stayed for the public hearing . One resident who was most strenuously opposed to the parking ordinance on Bogert and Cambridge, approached the woman who has championed the ordinance as she was with her young children in the hallway, and began screaming obscenities in her face.

Mrs. McWilliams simply continued to try to dress her children to leave and the resident who identified herself at comment as Erin Taddei, began yelling that she was going to sue Mrs. McWilliams sprinkled with many many obscenities not often heard at a council meeting and not appropriate for children’s ears.

She needed to be physically restrained from approaching Mrs. McWilliams and she was physically dragged down the hallway by her husband as she continued to scream obscenities and threats of lawsuit at the mother, who simply walked away, and back in to the courtroom.

It has been reported that a police report has been made . This is not what we accept at meetings. If you are angry about  a parking situation, have a discussion or lively debate. No one should resort to threats and obscenities.  The woman could be bared from council meetings as she does not seem to understand the decorum required.

Reader says a Sidewalk would improve safety much better than any parking regulation

Cars frequently fail to slow to a safe speed when heading north from Glen onto Bogert or Cambridge, or when heading south along Cambridge or Bogert toward the common intersection with Glen. Those same drivers also often recklessly careen across to the wrong side of the road rather than reduce their speed and stay in their lane while negotiating the two relatively tight S-curves that connect with the common intersection. This must be the safety issue that led to the current change. Pedestrians do not have the benefit of sidewalks to negotiate those same S-turns so they are forced to share the roadway with the cars. The pedestrians are sometimes forced to jump up on the curb or onto the adjacent lawns to avoid being struck. Draconian parking regulations won’t change the behavior of these reckless drivers. The best answer is probably to install short lengths of sidewalk paving along the s-turns on Bogert and Cambridge and extend the same to the Glen Avenue sidewalks at the common intersection. There is already a short length of sidewalk on the west side of the common intersection extending north from Glen and terminating at the beginning of the the S-turn on the Bogert side. That sidewalk should be extended entirely along that same S-turn and terminate just north of it. That would improve safety much better than any parking regulation could.

Millennials are leaving Garden State at a faster clip than any other group; that’s a concern for business groups, who want to keep them here

Last year, the size of the nation’s millennial generation grew enough to top baby boomers and become the largest of the five living generations. But in New Jersey, business leaders are tracking a different trend as millennials have been leaving the state at a higher rate than other groups.

The loss of millennials is not only a waste of taxpayer investment in their K-12 education, but there are also concerns that it could be having a broader impact on a state economy that has taken several years to fully recover from the Great Recession.

That’s caused business leaders to begin talking about ways to keep New Jersey’s millennials from leaving the state in the first place, as well as doing things to attract millennials from other states as they launch their careers, and as more and more boomers here reach retirement age.

“It’s a challenge that is screaming out for some attention and some solutions,” said Michele Siekerka, president and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association. The NJBIA hosted a daylong conference in East Windsor yesterday on the issue of millennials and the state workforce.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes declared Wednesday that members of Donald Trump’s transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under inadvertent surveillance following November’s presidential election.

The White House and Trump’s allies immediately seized on the statement as vindication of the president’s much-maligned claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower phones — even though Nunes himself said that’s not what his new information shows.

Members of the Donald Trump transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under U.S. government surveillance following November’s presidential election, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told reporters Wednesday.

Nunes said the surveillance appeared to be legal but that he was concerned because it was not related to the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the election and was widely disseminated across the intelligence community.

“I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the president-elect and his team were, I guess, at least monitored,” Nunes told reporters. “It looks to me like it was all legally collected, but it was essentially a lot of information on the president-elect and his transition team and what they were doing.”

Nunes said he is heading to the White House later Wednesday to brief Trump on what he has learned, which he said came from “sources who thought that we should know it.” He said he was trying to get more information by Friday from the FBI, CIA and NSA.

While he respects both sides of the aisle with friends in the NJ Republican and Democratic parties, “I think it’s time for the people’s politician, Bill,” Piscopo stated.

Piscopo also said that if he were to announce that he is going to make a run for the governor, now that he won’t be affiliated with any specific party, “I’m pro union member and you have to fight for the working men and women of the state and I support the union members.”

Shortly after Democratic U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez was indicted on corruption charges in 2015, former Sen. Robert Torricelli started meeting with New Jersey political insiders.

Menendez’s term expires in January 2019, but Torricelli was signaling his interest in the seat should Menendez step down sooner. All the while, though, he continued to voice his support for the embattled senator.

Ridgewood NJ, Back by popular demand, NJ TRANSIT announces the Music in Motion concert series is back in swing.

Music in Motion is a community-based initiative that allows local musicians to perform in NJ TRANSIT station facilities.  These performing artists are offering their talents while customers get a glimpse of the region’s up-and-coming talent as they traverse major stations and terminals.

Performances are Monday thru Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hoboken Terminal Waiting Room, Secaucus Junction Rotunda and Penn Station New York 7th Avenue Concourse.  NJ TRANSIT customers can enjoy performers at various other stations throughout the season.

Ridgewood Resident Reports $2000 in Jewelry Misssing

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report that on March 17, Ptl. Busche responded to a residence on Kensington Road to investigate a theft in the past. Upon arrival the victim reported approximately $2000 in jewelry was missing from the residence. The victim reported there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report a business located at 193 East Ridgewood Avenue (Starbucks)  reported on March 20, discovering criminal mischief at the rear of the business. The manager of the business reported an unknown actor caused damage to a storage shed at the rear of the business sometime overnight. The manager reported similar incidents in the past and wished to document the incident on this occasion.

Identity Thief Transfers $52,000 Ridgewood Resident to Quincy ,Massachusetts

Ridgewood NJ, On March 20, a Shelbourne Terrace resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report fraudulent activity on his TD Bank account. The victim reported between 3/09/17 and 3/18/17 an actor transferred $52000 from his bank account without authorization in Massachusetts at three different locations utilizing a fictitious drivers license. The victim reported the actor attempted a fourth withdrawal in the amount of $35000, however the withdrawal was denied by the bank and the Quincy, Ma. Police were notified, responded and arrested the actor. Quincy, Ma. Police and TD Bank are investigating the incident. The victim requested documentation of the incident to assist in recovering the stolen funds.
