Hackensack NJ, Yesterday, Rep. Scott Garrett held a press conference to call out Democrat challenger Josh Gottheimer forforging government documents.
In this fast-breaking story ,Democrat Gottheimer admitted his deceit to the Star Ledger: “An official with the Gottheimer campaign confirmed that it had produced the ad and manipulated the image.”
Falsifying government documents is a federal crime under 18 U.S. Code § 912.
Cease and desist letters were delivered to New Jersey broadcast stations overnight, but Josh now has more to worry about than simply taking television ads down – these actions fall squarely in the jurisdiction of Hillary Clinton’s new friends, the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Ridgewood NJ, We had the rare treat at last night’s council meeting , hearing from Rurik Halaby not once but twice in one evening. In opening comments he expressed dismay with all the legal fees this council is incurring (thank you Paul Aronsohn), the “secret” search for a new manager who will most likely be a friend of a current council member (as opposed to a friend of Paul Aronsohn ) and that too much is being done in closed session.
Cathy Quinn spoke in defense of maintaining the no parking on Pomander Walk. lo and behold she is an Episcopal minister at Gwenn Hauck’s church, St. Elizabeth in Ridgewood. Many remember that Gwenn pushed and pushed for the “no parking” zone on Pomander and now we know why.
Later in the evening, Mr Halaby was in fine form as he praised former mayor Paul Aronsohn for his lovely column in The Ridgewood News and then said that Susan should be doing the same as the “public” (the six people who still like Paul Aronsohn) is in the dark with this new council.
Thankfully, Anne Loving stepped up to the mic to say that Paul’s self-serving column gave little information and The Ridgewood News was doing a great job with weekly articles dedicated to the council meetings.
Rurik went on to make some muddled comments about a puppet council who in some ways was like or not like Donald Trump based on some notion of over regulation. He also blamed the recent vacancies on some of the boards and committees on the community’s dissatisfaction with the council ( not the removal of incompetent political hacks hired by Paul Aronsohn). Thankfully, his 5 minutes were up.
His wife, the acerbic Cynthia Halaby of daffodil fame, had admonished the council earlier for the condition of the trees and for making references to Summit, NJ in the Uber discussion when Summit is nothing like Ridgewood.
Mike Sedon gave a praise worthy report on the new Five Year Forestry Management Plan which will allow for numerous grant opportunities and training for village employees and Shade Tree Commission volunteers to address our dwindling stock.
The Uber discussion actually went quite well and it looks as though we will do a 6-month pilot program starting in January. A resolution is on the table for next week’s meeting and the village CFO will run some projections on expected revenues taking into consideration subsidies and the gain or loss of premium parking passes.
Ridgewood Guild president and town whiner, Tony Damiano spoke way too long on why isn’t he being informed on a regular basis about every project sanctioned by the village. Susan tried to address his concerns but he was too busy complaining to hear her.Perhaps the Ridgewood Guild needs better more informed leadership?
Boyd Loving once again was great addressing leaf issues with very good suggestions about how we should inform the landscapers of changes in our policies, Village regulation changes and pick up schedule . He also suggested a listing on the village website of the registered landscapers so that residents can make more informed choices , The registered list would also make enforcement easier.
Ridgewood NJ, according to the new smart phone website OMJ Ridgewood’s central business district (CBD) was ranked the number one best downtown in the entire state of New Jersey.

Thank you everyone for coming today. My opponent’s campaign has been devoid of policy discussions but full of name-calling. He has run a campaign of vitriol and nastiness. And now we have proof that he has run a campaign of deceit and lies.
An advertisement that was produced, paid for, and approved by Josh Gottheimer features a document that his campaign falsified. You might have seen the television advertisement that prominently says “Breaking News: Scott Garrett Under Investigation.”
Gottheimer then features a letter on the screen with a supposed investigation on the letterhead of the Office of Congressional Ethics. The only problem is, this document doesn’t actually exist. Josh falsified it, he forged it.
I have never received a letter from the Office of Congressional Ethics about an investigation—ever. And this isn’t a claim or an allegation, it’s a fact.
Josh created a fake government document so he could spread more lies.
This is a disgusting abuse of the influence he has as someone running for public office. My campaign is sending a cease and desist letter to televisions stations demanding that they remove this false advertisement immediately. But it shouldn’t have to come to this, Josh should know better.
To clear up how the ethics process works, any outside group or person can send their concerns to the Office of Congressional Ethics who reviews them for validity. If there is any legitimacy to the concerns, the Office of Congressional Ethics can conduct a full investigation, and makes public notice on their website, and sends a letter notifying the Member of Congress. In 2015, an outside group sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics making allegations against numerous House Republicans and Democrats
Not a single one of the allegations against me was ever deemed worthy of review.
Not a single allegation was worth pursuing.
Not a single allegation had any merit.
That was the end of it.
These kind of complaints are filed solely to get headlines and make political points. The exact opposite is true of the allegations against Josh Gottheimer who bought the silence of his victim, the one he assaulted and intimidated in his Washington, DC condo.
To understand why Josh operates the way he does, you have to look at where he came from. You see, in the world of Clinton politics—where Josh got his training—not only do you learn how to destroy documents, you learn how to falsify them too. I understand that there have been a lot of attacks thrown around in this campaign. And that’s because my opponent lacks the depth of policy knowledge that one needs to truly succeed as a leader in Congress.
Instead, he will lie to get what he wants.
So I’m calling on Josh, right here and now, to apologize to everyone he has lied to. Josh Gottheimer has received millions of dollars from his Clinton friends, Nancy Pelosi, and special interests. He should use that money to put an ad up apologizing to the people of New Jersey. Or better yet, how about spending the next six days stuffing envelopes with signed apologies.

Ridgewood NJ, An adult female driver lost control of her Toyota SUV while traveling southbound on East Saddle River Road in Ridgewood on Wednesday afternoon, 11/02, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and mount a protective steel guardrail. The incident occurred near the intersection of Bingham Road. A hydraulic lift tow truck was summoned to recover the SUV from its predicament. Ridgewood FD personnel contained a crash related fluid spill. The driver was the sole vehicle occupant and she was uninjured. Ridgewood PD provided traffic control during the spill containment and vehicle recovery process, and also investigated the crash.

Ridgewood NJ, next Tuesday is Election Day! When you head to the polls, you will be asked to vote (yes or no) on two ballot questions. Should the ballot questions pass, our state constitution would be amended .
Question #1 (Expansion of Casino Gaming) Question #1 deals with the expansion of casino gaming to northern New Jersey. CIANJ testified in support of the measure as it made its way through the legislative process. We believe any initiative that invites new investment and the creation of new private sector jobs is good for New Jersey’s economy. Casino gaming also subsidizes other New Jersey industries, such as the horse racing industry, providing nearly 7,000 jobs – including veterinarians, farmers, horse trainers, race track employees, etc.- to New Jersey residents. Question #2 (Dedication of Motor Fuels Taxes) Question #2 asks voters to approve an amendment to our constitution which would dedicate all revenues collected from the gas tax to transportation-related projects. As of November 1, the NJ tax on gasoline is 37.5 cents/gallon (44 cents/gallon for diesel). Should the question pass, the money collected could not be used for other purposes like balancing the state budget. The CIANJ agrees with this dedication and supports approval of the question. Since March of 2010, the American people have had to suffer under the incredible economic burden of the Affordable Care Act—Obamacare. This legislation, passed by totally partisan votes in the House and Senate and signed into law by the most divisive and partisan President in American history, has tragically but predictably resulted in runaway costs, websites that don’t work, greater rationing of care, higher premiums, less competition and fewer choices. Obamacare has raised the economic uncertainty of every single person residing in this country. As it appears Obamacare is certain to collapse of its own weight, the damage done by the Democrats and President Obama, and abetted by the Supreme Court, will be difficult to repair unless the next President and a Republican congress lead the effort to bring much-needed free market reforms to the healthcare industry.
But none of these positive reforms can be accomplished without Obamacare repeal. On day one of the Trump Administration, we will ask Congress to immediately deliver a full repeal of Obamacare.
However, it is not enough to simply repeal this terrible legislation. We will work with Congress to make sure we have a series of reforms ready for implementation that follow free market principles and that will restore economic freedom and certainty to everyone in this country. By following free market principles and working together to create sound public policy that will broaden healthcare access, make healthcare more affordable and improve the quality of the care available to all Americans.
Any reform effort must begin with Congress. Since Obamacare became law, conservative Republicans have been offering reforms that can be delivered individually or as part of more comprehensive reform efforts. In the remaining sections of this policy paper, several reforms will be offered that should be considered by Congress so that on the first day of the Trump Administration, we can start the process of restoring faith in government and economic liberty to the people.
Congress must act. Our elected representatives in the House and Senate must:
Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to.
Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.
Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it.
Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate.
Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.
Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.
Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.
The reforms outlined above will lower healthcare costs for all Americans. They are simply a place to start. There are other reforms that might be considered if they serve to lower costs, remove uncertainty and provide financial security for all Americans. And we must also take actions in other policy areas to lower healthcare costs and burdens. Enforcing immigration laws, eliminating fraud and waste and energizing our economy will relieve the economic pressures felt by every American. It is the moral responsibility of a nation’s government to do what is best for the people and what is in the interest of securing the future of the nation.
Providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually. If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country, we could relieve healthcare cost pressures on state and local governments.
To reduce the number of individuals needing access to programs like Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program we will need to install programs that grow the economy and bring capital and jobs back to America. The best social program has always been a job – and taking care of our economy will go a long way towards reducing our dependence on public health programs.
Finally, we need to reform our mental health programs and institutions in this country. Families, without the ability to get the information needed to help those who are ailing, are too often not given the tools to help their loved ones. There are promising reforms being developed in Congress that should receive bi-partisan support.
To reform healthcare in America, we need a President who has the leadership skills, will and courage to engage the American people and convince Congress to do what is best for the country. These straightforward reforms, along with many others I have proposed throughout my campaign, will ensure that together we will Make America Great Again.
IT’S NEVER best for one political party to hold every local government office. As well-intentioned as officials may be, complete control by the same party often leads to patronage hires and decisions based on what’s good for party interests, not necessarily the public at large. While one-party dominance of a Freeholder Board may make sense depending on the freeholders — it does this year in Passaic County — it does not in Bergen County.

As a voter Mr. Halaby and others should familiarize with NJ Statute Title 19: ELECTIONS.
A “Challenger” is there to assure the integrity of the election . Challengers (AKA poll watchers) defend voter’s rights and their only interest is the conduct of a fair and honest election.
What a Challenger Can Do
Challengers must be seated near the board workers so that they may hear the names of the voters being processed. Challengers can write down the names and address of voters. Challengers can challenge a voter. This process must be done in accordance with state and federal laws. Challengers may request the public counter numbers on the voting machine from the board workers. The board workers can give this information to the challengers provided they are not busy with voters or their other duties. Challengers can be present at the close of the polls to witness the opening of the voting machines and hear the unofficial vote totals.
What a Challenger Cannot Do
Challengers cannot address the voters. They must inform the board workers when they wish to initiate a challenge. Challengers cannot challenge a voter based on:
Their race, sex, creed, ethnic origin. How they think they might vote. The fact they live in a particular ward, housing complex or section of a municipality or county.
Challengers cannot stand behind the election tables or go near the voting machines. Challengers cannot look over the shoulders of or sit with the board workers. Challengers cannot touch the voting machines or registration books. Challengers cannot use cellphones, blackberries, iPhones, laptops or any other electronic/wireless communicating device while in the polling location. Challengers cannot wear any partisan/political buttons, pins, hats, clothing, signs, etc while in the polling location. They can only be identified by the county-issued badge and permit. Challengers cannot campaign in the polling location. Challengers cannot disturb the quiet and business-like atmosphere of the polling location. Challengers cannot harass or intimidate any voters.
Perhaps Mr.Halaby could get some info from the League of Women Voters , after all,it has been recently infected by a whole host of former Mayor Paul Aronsohn supporters clearing looking to still hold some sway over Village of Ridgewood politics.

On top of that the real estate website Zillow looked at median property taxes across the U.S. last year and found that seven of the 10 counties with the highest property taxes ; Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union, Morris, Hudson and Hunterdon are all in New Jersey. The remaining three were in New York State.
New Jersey has one of the most progressive income tax structures in the entire country. Income taxes start at 1.4 percent on earnings less than $20,000 and the top marginal tax rate hits 8.97 percent on income over $500,000.
Sales tax rate in New Jersey is 7 percent, which ties with Indiana, Mississippi, Rhode Island and Tennessee as the second highest in the USA.
Then there is corporate taxes according to the Tax Foundation, “New Jersey … is hampered by some of the highest property tax burdens in the country, is one of just two states to levy both an inheritance tax and an estate tax, and maintains some of the worst structured individual income taxes in the country,”
In state by state comparisons of state corporation income taxes collected per capita, New Jersey came in seventh highest at $265 per person.
TRENTON — New Jersey residents will only be able to choose between two companies this year in the federal health insurance marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act.
Open enrollment for 2017 begins on Tuesday and lasts through January. New Jersey residents can choose between plans from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey or AmeriHealth New Jersey.
