Secaucus School and Daycare Put Into Lockdown After Reports of Armed Man Nearby

Secaucus NJ, on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 930am the Secaucus Police Department received a call from the New Jersey State Police, Sussex Station stating they had contact with a concerned family member of a male who is suicidal and that they have tracked his cellular phone in the area of Penhorn Avenue, Turnpike Exit 15X in Secaucus and the Jersey City jurisdictional border in Laurel Hill Park. It was reported that this male was possibly armed with a handgun/shotgun and wished to harm himself. The male’s cell phone was constantly tracked to get a more precise and frequently updated locations. The location of this male was narrowed to the marsh area near the Secaucus Junction Train Station/Laurel Hill Park where a perimeter was immediately set so that the male could be located. The Secaucus Police certified drone pilots launched the department drones. Jersey City Police Department and New Jersey Transit Police Department Emergency Service Units along with Patrol personnel, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and New Jersey State Police Troopers and Helicopter responded to assist with securing the area. At 0945 hours the phone was believed to be stationary, therefore the Hudson County High Tech High School and the Kiddie Academy Daycare at the Exchange were informed to “shelter-in-place” due to the heavy police presence and increased traffic of law enforcement equipment.

Platkin today announced the filing of criminal charges against a Paterson voter based on her alleged falsification of a vote-by-mail ballot, the defendant’s subsequent attempts to mislead investigators about that crime, and the defendant’s attempts to mislead investigators about how certain mail-in ballots were cast in the May 2020 Paterson municipal election.

Election Fraud: Democrat Paterson City Council President Facing New Charges in Election Fraud Case After New Details of Conspiracy and Alleged Witness Tampering

Paterson NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced today that the Paterson City Council President, Alex Mendez, has been brought up on new charges in connection with an election-fraud case, after investigators determined the defendant personally collected ballots and oversaw the fraudulent mailing of ballots, while members of his campaign stole ballots from residential mailboxes and discarded several that did not cast a vote for their candidate.  It is also alleged that defendants tampered with witnesses to avoid prosecution.

Paterson NJ,  in the city’s sixth homicide in October, a man was fatally shot at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning near the parking lot of the Food Fair supermarket on Market Street, near East 36th Street, authorities said. The outbreak of October killings all in separate shooting incidents, represents Paterson’s worst month for homicides in more than three years.

Landscapers Sue Montclair Over Ban on Gas-powered Leaf Blowers

Montclair NJ, in August Montclair’s town council voted Tuesday night to ban gas-powered leaf blowers, passing in a 4-1 vote. The use of gas-powered leaf blowers has been a topic of discussion in many cities in North Jersey and even in the New Jersey State Legislature, where a 2021 proposal to ban the sale and use of the devices in the state. Montclair is the latest community to take up the topic, as a proposal to completely ban the devices was introduced by the Montclair Town Council back in July. Currently, gas-powered leaf blowers are banned in Montclair from May 16th through October 14th, but a new proposal has been approved and will now prohibit them outright starting on October 15th, 2023.
