Ridgewood NJ, from the Bergen County Historical Society ,anyone driving along Route 17 in Ridgewood recognizes Old Paramus Church on the west side of the highway, just above Paramus Road. This iconic structure is one of a number of stone churches scattered throughout the county, the buildings today being just post-Revolutionary, but having their roots earlier than the present buildings. Old Paramus Church that stands today was built in 1800, but its history and founding go back three quarters of a century before that. Did you know that the church and environs were used as a post of one sort or another by militia and continental troops off and on between 1776 and 1780?

v1 220th sm uoiqpifjyk02 1539120930 6714

Written by Marc Shapiro

As the new coronavirus was becoming a global pandemic, researchers at Johns Hopkins began working on a vaccine. It’s no quick fix — it can take up to a year and a half for a vaccine for the virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, just to move from the lab to human trials.

While some institutions have reported that they have a vaccine, and the first human study has started in Seattle, currently, no researchers have published studies showing a coronavirus vaccine that is safe and effective in humans.

Hawthorne NJ, Several Hawthorne Police units were dispatched in connection with a Sunday afternoon, 03/22, 911 telephone call reporting a “disturbance” at the Jembro Store, 111 Wagaraw Road, Hawthorne. Arriving officers quickly determined that the “disturbance,” verbal in nature only, was resultant from a misunderstanding between a manager and employee, with no police action required. However, officers noted that the Jembro Store, and another store in the same strip mall, were both open in direct violation of NJ Governor Phil Murphy’s “essential retail businesses only” proclamation. Police ordered both stores to be vacated and closed immediately. No summonses were issued.
