The Ridgewood Shade Tree Commission Wants Residents to “Adopt” a Sapling

Ridgewood NJ, despite the current council majorities efforts to clear cut over 500 trees at the Schedler property  to install a plastic artificial turf ball field and perhaps to ease the conscious of the council majority and many Village residents , the Village will move ahead with an Adapt-a-sapling-program in October.

The Village Shade Tree Commission is looking for residents to “adopt” a sapling and care for it on their public right of way area.

Residents may purchase a late season adult membership for $75 and a late season child membership for $70.  Senior rates remain at $35.00 and non-resident rates remain at $325 for ages 16+ and $210 for a child.

Ridgewood NJ, congratulations to Ridgewood Emergency Services August member of the month Chris Canone. Chris recently received his National Registered EMT license, but has been a long standing member of Ridgewood Emergency Services. After months of EMT school, and riding as an Observer, he is excited to begin his journey as an official ambulance crew member.
Chris has always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, and EMS is his first step in the healthcare direction. Congratulations again Chris, thank you for all that you do!

Bulb Ban Goes Into Effect

Ridgewood NJ, a Department of Energy rule requiring new lightbulbs to have a minimum brightness of 45 lumens went into effect in the United States on Tuesday, effectively banning incandescent lightbulbs. The ban does not affect currently owned lightbulbs and excludes several specialty bulbs used in refrigerators, plant lights, and others (see full list).

Ridgewood Pedestrian Plaza Suspended for the Month of August

Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Manager  Keith Kazmark  the pedestrian plaza in Ridgewood is being suspending for the month of August.
In a Facebook post Kazmark said , “With overwhelming support from our community, the Ridgewood Village Council brought back dining corrals, year-round outdoor dining and the pedestrian plaza this summer. Initially, the response to the pedestrian plaza was very good, with many people coming out to support it. Most importantly, it was well received by the community and our businesses.

West Side Fire Quickly Extinguished by Ridgewood Fire Fighters

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Village Manager yesterday morning, the Ridgewood Fire Department received a report of a fire at a west side residence. Upon arrival, smoke and fire were coming from the home. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented the fire from spreading further from the room of origin. The Ridgewood Fire Department was assisted by the Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Special Operations, OEM, the Bergen County Mutual Aid Coordinators and Glen Rock Ambulance. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported . Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark offered praise , “I want to thank all our emergency responders for their quick action to protect life and property”
